i guess people couldn't find another way to get this thread to 30+ pages, so they came up with this lame $150, "its not fair" excuse.

After reading all this, it makes me feel somewhat free from all the past bashing, flaming, and attacks I received when I said that there was no way v2 , or any of the proposed v2 features like speed related items or things that require extra wires would be free... long threads of people saying "your an idiot, shiv said it would be free", and nothing I could say would convince anyone otherwise... we even had people saying that they fully expected shiv to send them free wires or harness updates...
Now the truth comes out, and I am not complaining about the price one single bit... because I fully expected it.... everyone else needs to just start realizing that they are about to get another 40 horsepower for only 150 bucks... thats friggen sweet! |

![]() Anyways, we'll see how much hp v2 actually is. I'm not convinced it will be rwhp until I see it on the dyno (before and after on the same day).

v2 is a major leap ahead. With v1, there was nothing *huge* to set them apart from the XEDE... as shiv said, "The Xede can control fuel, timing and boost. Due to hardware limitations, it will never be able to support VANOS control, raise speed limiters, offer gear dependant boost control or anything that requires more digital inputs/outputs." With v1, he basically took the concept he used when he first tuned the XEDE, and moved it to his custom "PROcede" platform. Now with v2 he has actually used all those extra inputs and outputs that the procede has that the xede does not... he is directly driving the wastegates, so no more need for the solenoid bypass like the old procede and xede, and also no more limp mode or boost spikes... he is doing speed related items, and he is probably also controlling VANOS, and then has also implemented a "switchless" map switch... probably using some combination of ignition off and gas pedal position. All this stuff is a major update, its like a new box... all the potential is going to leap out, and pass the competition. Very exciting stuff... as shiv said, you dont get to release something this cool very often, so he wants to do it right. If he needs 150 bucks and some extra time to do it right, thats fine with me! (just keep your word when you say you are going to post some info ![]() _______________________________________ Here is some good info about the Digital Inputs and Outputs of the PROcede compared to the XEDE. Keep in mind, shiv has tuned both, so he knows. Also, keep in mind that the v1 procede controls the same stuff as the XEDE, but procede v1 has tons of unused inputs and ouputs.... using them requires more wires in the harness..., hence the need for the v2 upgrade harness. so if someone has a problem with the $150 for the "free" update (by the way, the new features that have been added were origionally advertised as features way back when I origionally ordered one), and they choose not to do it, then they are stuck with the limp mode prone existing version? that hardly seems fair. why should existing users have to pay to have their unit work right? seems like there needs to be a fix for the existing map as well for those not willing to pay.
this is a mute argument for me, as I don't have a procede. for what it's worth I do think that updates on the same platform (ie procede vs xede) should be free since they were advertised that way. if they want to call it an upgrade to hardware, then they should require it be sent back to be upgraded, much as they are going to do with the "black". if I choose to get one (waiting to see what actual real world performance is, ie 1/4 mile trap speeds before I decide if I want to switch from the tt) I'll gladly pay the price knowing what it is going into it. |

Some have trust, some don't. If you have problems not knowing enough to spend the $150 for the upgrade wait until the infos are released and buy when you are ready. Or don't buy. AFAIK V1.47LBT is stable in any 335i. I ordered my e93 without having seen it in reality, knowing it will be a great car. The same I will do with the V2 upgrade on Tue, 12h00 PST.
The PROcede V2 sounds like a great evolution step. Maybe we will need one or two further minor releases until everything will be perfect. However, simply the best product available. My 2 cents. Cheers Eugen |
