Hey all. Would a improper recall fix cause sluggish response from the car and the stereo to abruptly shut off and on, screen and all, during driving? Neither ever happened before the recall fix. Car has just over 50k miles on it. What do you think?

I just brought my car in for service which they did this recall. I had the alpine HID in my car which I just removed 2 nights ago and replaced them with the new burger 4 LED Halos. Last night, after driving to delaware and back from me (60+ miles) my car decided to overheat and advised me to pull over. Had to get a tow back to my house as my coolant cap popped and coolant is everywhere. I do not know what happened but it looks like its headed back to the dealer...

They have the invoice in their records with the part numbers. They performed the recall work before the recall was issued. A story can't possibly get any simpler than that.

Do you still have your invoice?

Finally after calling Bmwusa and insulting the dumb ass SA at dealer, went straight to the manager who is also clueless. And they filled out the papers for the reimbursement now I have to wait for the check.
I thought they could cut a check on the spot. Well ill wait 2 weeks if nobody calls ill b over there again.

It seems like more and more owners are having problems after this Battery Cable connector recall.....

I have a 2007 e90 328i.

I have only lost power once recently because I was taking off the vinyl wrap from my trim and I had to disconnect the start/stop button cable and front vent cable. I did not turn off my battery before doing this.

After that, my battery went dead and I jump started it and since then it has been working fine. This was about 1-2 months ago.

Should I go for this recall?

Ugh. Had the recall done Friday. When I picked it up the clock wouldn't stay set, comfort access not working, and service light on the dash. Absolutely no issues before.

Back today and they tell me it needs a battery... they are charging it for now.

EDIT: Battery is charged issues are gone. It's 5yrs old so I don't suppose there's much else BMW owes. I can't reason why a properly executed connector change would cause this but seems to be cropping up for a few people.

Anyone take their N54 or N55 with a JB4 with the optional USB cable still installed? If so, any issues with the dealer?

Same issue happened to me after the recall was done by the dealer yesterday. I will take it back to dealer today and see what they will say, and how much they will charge me

Does anyone know if you have to return your car back to stock if you have mods before getting this recall fixed at the dealer?

Sorry for late reply.

I used Shelly BMW in Buena Park, CA.

Everyone, take your car to Shelly BMW to get it done. It took a total of 2 hours with an excellent interior/exterior car wash and no problems. Free coffee, muffins/donuts in the area and free wi-fi.

It is not crowded at all like Crevier.

No problems period when I got my car back. No problems with electronics, the clock, or what not. Just reflashed my cobb back on and still okay.

I would probably unflash your tunes like me, just in case.

They gave me a 2013 328xi loaner. The start-stop tech scared me the first few times it kicked in. I thought the car was dying

the heads up display was pretty cool too

Had my recall service done yesterday... All went well but after about 30 minutes of driving my water pump failed. I had low power with no check engine light and scanned the coded and found 2 for water pump. My car is at my indy shop today and they confirmed that the pump is bad by activating it separately. I have 102k miles so I was kind of expecting a pump failure soon. It is probably a total coincidence but the timing makes me suspicious...

Stop being suspicious the electrical recall is not going to make your water pump fail. It's just a total coincidence.

I completely agree that the cable cannot make the pump fail. My concern was that the cable could make the pump not work due to a power interruption. According to the SIB for the pump the potential causes are:

"CAUSE
One of the following can be the cause:
- Insufficient power supply
- Insufficient grounding
- BSD signal not present
- Defective electric coolant water pump
- Electric coolant pump water pump processor disturbance"

Since the battery cable does directly influence the power supply, my mind was trying to make a correlation. Also, a few forums posts noted pump issues due to the distribution block near the battery.

The shop did confirm that the impeller failed. That obviously cannot be caused by the cable. Sorry for going a little OT...
