Impressive result and nice sound. What does that work out to at the fly wheel?

Master fabrication by Vtl
Regular readers will know we have been grappling with a boost leak on the silicon pipe connecting the FMIC to the charge pipe To fix it once and for all, Vince is fabricating a custom solid pipe, using his new arc welder ![]() He reckons the welds aren't the greatest, but they look pretty good to me ![]() Pics below Pic 1 - Spcgry up on the hoist Pic 2 - Fancy metal band saw - One of Vinces' many toys Pics 3 & 4 - Pipe tacked and welded Pic 5 - Sexy looking welds Pic 6 - Test fitting Pic 7 - Installed Last edited by Socket; 09-29-2019 at 08:18 AM.. |

Car needs a good detail so not looking it’s best atm Haha yes always something.. tbh I have been pretty lucky so far. Not much has broken down other then a crank position sensor and that little hose the runs along the top of the radiator, oh and about 12 serpentine belts..... boost leaks are a constant battle, half the time don’t even know they are there... bloody power sapping boost leaks ![]() |

Car is overdue for new rotors and pads on the ap race bbk. Have not been changed since I purchased these from Kent a year or two back when a tree fell on his car while in for repairs at a garage in Sydney. Given the kit is a few years old finding the right pads and rotors was a bit of a challenge and lots of crossing fingers hoping they would actually fit. Thankfully they did and thanks to Vince and his leet skills, Gary is sporting new brakes which will help out heaps with the tassie cruise coming up at the end of Oct. Big thanks to Vince for giving up his time after work during the week to install these.

Mod 115 - Lemforder rear monoball upgrade for M3 rear control arms
Vince put together a group buy for these rear ball joints. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1640804 They replace the M3 joints on the rear guide rods, trailing arms and upper control arms, providing more rear end stability ![]() Vince also organised CNC'd washers to ensure a top quality finish Spcgry was the first car to have this installed. Collected the car today and was surprised how planted the rear feels with the upgrade..... Big thanks to Vince for installing and giving up his time to organise the GB... He is always giving to the N54 community ![]() ![]() ![]() Pics below |

Anyone else had problems with getting brake dust off black rims??
![]() Nearly 3 hrs to scrub clean 4 rims !!!! What a pinta !!!! ![]() On the upside, got a chance to put the rear wheel studs and race nuts, after running stock wheel bolts for 6 months The main aim of the day was to swap the 230s back to the black GT-CS rims that are fitted with AD08Rs, Ready for a balance and alignment in preparation for Tassie in few weeks ![]() |

Get the wheels ceramic coated then you don't have to worry about scrubbing them. I paid $75 per rim and well worth it. I used Ceramic Pro as the guy said it will last the lifetime abuse.

Looking good! I've also had my rims ceramic coated in the past and most of the dirt does blast off with a Gerni.
You can DIY but I think there is a bit of an art to putting the stuff on but no doubt Youtube will help you! I know https://www.waxit.com.au/ sells DIY stuff and they guy is quite knowledgeable so I'm sure he can recommend something if you want to do it. Socks, are you getting the car ready for any events? It is turning into a very serious piece of kit! |

Been a while mate. Hope you and the family are well. Thanks for the tip mate. Might get it professionally done, sounds like it’s s bit tricky to get right. Just getting car ready for the tassie cruise. Next mod will be flex fuel and Helix HPFP overdrive unit. Should let us run some E85 blends and if Tim can find some time to do a E85 map, we can get some extra KWs which would be nice ![]() |

Wish I installed wheel studs and race nuts at the start of the build tbh. Make changing the tires super easy Biggest challenge is working out the right thread size and stud length. I’ll look up the specs for mine as post as a guide for others 👍 |

Tassi sounds great! When are you guys heading down again? I am planning on heading down to Targa High Country if you can make it up to Mount Buller for Nov 8-10. They have a "tour" group for people like us who just want to have fun and carve some mountains. ![]() Anyway, bit of a trek for me but it is right up your alley! |
