Definitely does, as the turbos aren't attenuating engine noise
![]() it screams at higher rpms too (and doesn't go anywhere)

How did you get into high rpms on the valet map? When I tried it as soon as I hit 4k rpms fuel was cut, followed by a loud thud. Great for a valet, but I would think it would be dangerous using it for long trips, in case you ever needed no merge quickly.

On COBB, you can't switch maps on the fly. Yet
![]() I also have a JB4 but unfortunately If I switch to NA mode (on the fly) I can't switch back until I restart the car.

Okay, thats what I figured. I might end up with a jb4 too just for the gauge highjacking and can bus. I want to be able to open and close the exhaust flap with the touch of a button if I get the 335is exhaust from tischer.

The downside is you can't log with COBB when meth is flowing. and I really would like to log timing on all cylinders when meth is flowing. so I'm torn apart between going with the BMS meth kit and HFS-4.

Do you mean your car is under warranty=so new that they replaced the pump because car is under warranty OR no warranty on car but they still replaced the pump for free like in US (warranty for the pump max 200 000km / 10year)

there is NO such warranty in Europe. a pump replacement is not that expensive by the way.

It seems to me that if someone were to take BMW to court they would have a VERY strong suit considering the situation in America. Atleast get court cost paid for and a new pump. |

I started noticing HPFP issues early last month...long cranks and such. I also installed Cobb at that time and was able to read the DTCs...fuel pump. I contacted the German dealership and discussed it with them. It took them 2-3 days to look into it but they did replace it for free. I checked the ADAC website (the German version of AAA) and they do not have a recall listed. I'm assuming they replaced it knowing about the US recall and dealing with a lot of Americans at that dealership. I searched some of the German forums and know that they have the same issues but apparently have been getting them replaced, couldn't find anything official though. Not many Germans have an N54, the German spec cars are much more expensive here and gas is around $6.50/gallon for 93 equivalent...for example: base US 2012 335i starts at $42,400, German spec starts at 43,600 Euros ($58,235 today) and configuration/options are different. I don't want to rehash old arguments but I figured it worth mentioning. I've read a lot about quality of gas in US vs Europe as a possible cause for HPFP fails. In my opinion, this is a non-factor. Many of us N54 owners here have had the same HPFP issues and we all buy European gas. A buddy of mine had his replaced at least twice in the 3 yrs he was here. I think the issue has been more prevalent in the US because of what I mentioned in the previous paragraph (not many German N54 drivers here) and that the US is more spread out so people put more miles on the car. Just a thought... Last edited by DarenV942000; 03-27-2012 at 06:53 AM.. |
