If bmw put it on there then there is nothing to worry about. Most of these beauties have badging applied by the owner, likely to fool others. This is what we laugh and point at

Personally, I'm much more likely to de-badge an up spec car like our M50i because it's no ones business how much I paid for an X5.
I debadged my 17 540i and I feel like every time an M or M lite sees me they like to rev and cut me off. I'm not trying to be something I'm not, I just like the clean look. Anyone know what the deal is? Is it an ego thing?

You can also go monochromatic with gloss black badges. 😉

Saw this yesterday and cringed pretty hard. The M badge was clearly double the size of the other badging and either was straight silver/chrome or the M colors had worn off completely (not sure which would be worse...)

I still don't understand why people do this. Those who know what it is know it's fake and those who don't know what it is... don't know (and don't care...)

Looking like a young woman driving the car, but windows were tinted.

What's fake about that, the color? Nothing wrong with it, IMO.

The OEM badges are more cerium grey in color. I replaced them because they didn't match the Shadowline trim or any other part of the exterior.

As the Z4 doesn't have any other model or trim designation anywhere else on the exterior, and would otherwise seem a bit plain for my tastes, I opted for the gloss black versions rather than simply removing them.

Nonetheless, technically they're not the same badges the factory shipped the car to the dealer with, making them - in the opinion of at least some other forum members - fake.

Nah, you're ok, would only be fodder for this thread if you removed the "0i"

Here's another at the Audi dealership. With "M" badging on both sides like an m40i. The dealership lists it as X4 xdrive28i, but in the description it says : X4M package...

Well, it is obviously an M-sport package. Not sure how they badge them in Canada (probably neither M-badge front or rear came on it) but here we have gotten some with the little M on the sides of the front fenders. Even the very first M235i's came that way for a bit.

Appreciate the input, now that you mention Im not sure that cars with M-sport package come with the side Ms. I know that my m40i came with it and I think I will take them off. My cousin's 340i doesnt have them...If the sides ones came from the factory on that X4 I retract what I said and just comment on the obvious front and back ones.

I should have been more precise with my wording. I think that it is very well possible that he has a M-sport package. BTW how can you say that Obviously had the package from the picture ? Im not an expert , but it wasnt obvious to me, it had standard wheels, seats, etc... Id be happy to learn how you can tell the difference so quickly!

I was more reffering to how they worded the description. You may think I am splitting hairs, but I find it a bit disingenuous to write "X4M" package...same way I avoid describing my car as an "X3M" 40i . Id be happy to gather feedbacks form folks on here, to see if Im the only that think the description of the car is as important as the fake badges... maybe im crazy !
