you can decode your options list to see if you have voice control option, otherwise no chance that you will have mic or mic wiring

What does it update? What is its purpose?

i'm not aware about combox update , i suppose this is part of the bluetooth stack
but for album art, i'd try to update CIC album art database,
such update CD or files also circulate in internet

Thanks again for your persistance. Could you please give me more details about these cic update files? Could you point me to one? BMW update page gives an error. Does nothing. Cant update the CIC.

Hello guys,

I did read entire thread but can't seems to figure out what i am doing wrong.
I have E90 2006 with logic 7 and TCU Bluetooth activated.

I bought HU with USB and Bluetooth. Did all wiring and it works. Look like Bluetooth still works off TCU module and it is fine. All i want is to add USB to work from my HU.

When i add options $663 $6Fl $6NN (I may not even need that my Bluetooth works fine from TCU)

I did SG_CODIREN and SG_RESET nothing works i don't see USB option so i manually activated the option in 2URAD module i can see it now but it doesn't recognize the USB but i see the power is there.

So my question may be i missed something. Can i keep TCu for bluetooth? And only add USB? I see option $645 should i remove it?

here is my CAS option list:

It's been a few years since I did the USB retro fit in my 06 330i, but one question is: do you have a MULF2-HI, or only the TCU? You need the MULF for the USB audio functionality. The MULF will replace the TCU, and provide the Bluetooth functionality as well, or you can simply have both, with the MULF just doing the USB.

Hey guys!

I've got a new HU to upgrade the Business CD one to a Professional with Bluetooth and USB. I've also bought the coaxial cable to go along with it, and installed everything. I have a E81 '07 which originally had the Business CD, but I upgraded it to a Professional Radio from a '11 E90, exactly the same as shown in the original post.

I first coded the HU to my car using the $663, $6FL, and $6NN VO's, and everything shows up perfectly fine. Bluetooth works (although I still need to get a microphone for it), but calls can be made too.

However, I can't seem to get the USB to work. It does show up in the menu, but with - -. 2 different USB drives didn't work, which were tested by just adding MP3's, and by testing a M3U itunes playlist. It still gives me the message "Insert USB". I also tested a y-cable, but this also didn't give me anything. No iPod option was showing up.

The light on the USB drives did show up, so it is getting power there. So I'm curious what the possibilities are of things that could be incorrect here.

My gut says it's the coaxial cable that is faulty, or I bend it accidently on install, whatever it may be. The HU, coding, and AUX/USB connector seems okay, as the AUX works perfectly fine, bluetooth works, and USB shows up in the menu. Is there anything else I should troubleshoot before getting a new cable? Please let me know!

Fixed: Apparently I was extremely unlucky, but I got a third USB stick which did work. One difference, my other two USB sticks were 16GB formatted as FAT32, while the 3rd one was a 2GB FAT stick. The last one works flawlessly, which to me makes very little sense given the experience other people had with 32GB sticks etc. But I'll test some more in case anyone ever goes through the same haha

I was thinking about using MULF or MULF 2 HI but to my knowledge if I replace my HU with the HU with Bluetooth and USB i don't need any MULF and i can even remove my TCU. I only have TCU right now.

Just an update. I was able to fix it. Coded options directly to HU and the usb stick i tried first didn't work I did plug my phone for charging and I saw it detects the connection so i found few more usb sticks. In my case only USB over 32GB with NTFS works fine.

May be because my HU is from 06-11. Works really well and I am very happy with this OEM setup. Cost was less then 100$

You have to code it with an empty MAN file using NCS Expert.

(the plug you have to use is the Right one, not the nearest to the fuse.)

My Phone connects as a phone and works fine to make calls but will not play audio/music. It doesn't even show an option to play music via bluetooth.

You need to swap your MULF2 High module for Combox.
There are plenty topics of that on this forum, the only difference for e63 is that it was not shipped for E6x, so coding order is bit different, but thats done many times in internet as well
