Not really! I loved my BMW and had planned to keep it until 2018 and then trade it for a 718 Cayman. But after an uninsured motorist caused $10K+ in damages and the repair shop could only get it back to 99% satisfaction, I just thought "wrecked" every time I looked at the slight misalignment of the hood at the bumper (yes, very slight but I am very particular). Then the warranty expired and that was that.

A beautiful car. I fell in love with the 718 Cayman the moment I saw it. I guess it fill that space in my heart for a 911 I always wanted.

Summer shoes installed
My first experience with MPSS - hope the ride is worth the coin.

replaced the original water pump at 137k. It was still working fine but I have some long trips planned and was tired of gambling. I got it at ECS tuning for $287 and the install went fine. Got the three bolts a the dealer for $14 and coolant for $25. I did not use a battery tender for the bleed cycle and my 2 year old OEM battery handled the job just fine. I accessed the tricky top pump bolt from the front with a swivel joint on the E12 because I did not remove the thermostat. That access was the only hard part, but it was not too bad.

Hit a pothole, knocked my alignment out. Loathe to pay for a new alignment when the shocks, springs and control arms are being replaced in a few weeks.

Repairs, Maintenance & Upgrades
So after dealing with a belt/pulley issue for 3 1/2 weeks, I got the car back and it seems to be running better than ever (knock on wood). All new belts and all new pulleys, so there should be no issues with that for a while.
Since I'd already put the money aside for the repairs and it ended up being only 20% of what I thought it would be, I used the money to replace my factory Sport Pkg shocks/struts with some Koni Str.t struts/shocks since I've already got the Eibach Pro Kit Springs. Got those installed a few days ago, and still checking them out (I've got one corner that seems to be about 3/4" higher than the others) but other than that, I'm liking it quite a bit. I don't get the body roll or the braking/accelerating dive that I was getting before but still deciding if it's more bouncy/stiff than my Sport Pkg shocks/struts. Thanks to Jeff@TopGearSolutions for hooking me up with those and for answering my ignorant questions when asking for advice. I'd also found an MSport steering wheel on eBay that seemed to be a good deal. Had everything (paddles, M trim, button, paddles & modules) minus the airbag for $300. So I ordered it and while it wasn't perfect (a couple of blemishes/marks on the top of the wheel), everything else was perfect. This morning, after much investigation and research (thank you bavarian19 for your excellent DIY write up), I attempted it for the second time this morning (I was having a problem with the plugs on the back of the airbag. I didn't realize that after I released the tabs, I just had to pull them off. Thanks YouTube) and it took all of 20 mins, only because I had to go back in the house to find my torque wrench. No airbag going off, no warning lights, and the wheel was straight. SUCCESS!! Now I'll just have to get rid of my Sport Wheel since I don't have any place to store it anyway. Now I just need to get to work on finding someone to help me pull my bumper so I can change out my passenger side adaptive headlight housing...

Finally got around to the oil pan gasket and HOLY HELL, that was quite the DIY. I started on Friday afternoon and finished up today around 5am... One thing that consumed a lot of time was the drivers side engine mount removal, expect I couldn't actually get it off, so I only replaced the passenger side engine mount. The hex nut securing the drivers side engine mount was ON THERE. It was impossible to remove.
