I haven't personally tried the 1.8. I mean apart from the 1/2 stop difference, I hear the 1.4 is sharper. In terms of low light performance I don't think a 1/2 stop makes a huge difference honestly. But this 50mm f/1.4 is SHARP at f/8. Like, I-see-all-your-pimples-through-your-makeup-in-your-wedding-photos sharp.

damn, i don't really like the 50 range too much though. i REALLY like the 35 range on my D200

True. Depends really. I think it's a great portrait lens with the multiplier. But definitely not for any landscape work etc.

yeah i'm sure it's pretty handy to have, but i really want more of a walkaround range. 35 would just about cover everything for me

oh yeah, that picture reminds me of this one night i was on my way home and an e36 got pulled over, that was hella and i mean HELLA riced out; lambo doors, giant decals, the works. haha. the cops had him pop his hood. LOL. this car was ridiculous. i wish i had a picture of him.
