Found the clear coat on my hood is starting to peel. Any recommendation for a shop that can help with this? Probably need to redo the whole thing. Have some other minor paint issues that could use some work.
Looking for something in San Diego County preferably. |

LOL. I hit something on the 8 a few years ago and had a shop in Normal Heights fix it through insurance. Work looked ok then, but it seems the work wasn't that good because the hood was something they redid.

If you're in San Fernando Valley area and need some BMW TLC, give Corner Automotive in Sherman Oaks area a shout or visit. It's a small BMW specialist indy shop opened back in 2018. Arthur is the owner and a master data tech at BMW prior, nice and direct. Straight to business. Pricing is definitely better than dealership, pretty standard for an indy shop. 2-year warranty on their work and parts. I was referred by a friend who went there. They definitely took care of me.
www.cornerautomotive.com 14855 W Magnolia Blvd unit c, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403 They recently extracted a broken valve cover bolt (all the way back of the N55 engine) and salvaged it without costing me an arm and leg. They also let be borrow the loaner car for the weekend and Monday. The other guy initially started work is named Steve, also a BMW tech with experience. Both showed me their initial finding upon removing the valve cover. All I can say is that MINI CORSA (North Hollywood) fucked up on my valve cover bolt in process of drilling for extraction (a year and some months ago, and they only carry 1-year warranty). Additional gasket sealant was use to try to cover up oil seepage. Therefore, they skipped the corner bolt and NEVER mentioned a thing to me when I picked up my car with a smile. This is unacceptable. And some of us heard good things about them before... I'm just telling like it is. Definitely unacceptable as a customer who heard good things about them. Maybe if you need some basic work done, exhaust installation, brake job, oil change, or minor tune up on your expensive cars, they're the go-to.

Hey SoCalians and IE people... I'm looking for a new mechanic in the eastern Inland Empire area. I've been to several shops and while all are fine, they all seem less than enthusiastic about my cars. Basically same as a dealer but with cheaper hourly: Just throw parts at it to do the minimum and call it a day. Yeah, I know it's just a job to them, but trying to find someone that is a bit more of an enthusiast and old school but still not afraid of coding. Yeah, unicorn, right. Any suggestions? Redlands to Riverside, MoVal to S.B. I came across Prestige Auto in Riverside, and while their website is nice... any personal experiences with them beyond that? Thanks!

I haven't actually gone there yet, but I was ramping up to check out Precision Performance in Anaheim Hills. I ended up going to Ontario BMW, where they threw parts at me. It ended up costing an extra $2k for a water pump I didn't need, but eventually they got to the alternator which seems to have been the problem. What I was hoping to find and just couldn't was someone that could properly diagnose the problem rather than throw parts at it. I never found that magical person/place so took it to the dealer. That ended up costing $4k for a $1k job which sucks. But it seems to be working now and the wife loves the car... So if you or anyone else can recommend someone that knows these cars, loves them, is meticulous, can and wants to troubleshoot, and can code all day long, I'm still looking for them in Inland SoCal! Thanks... I can make the drive to OC for non-emergencies, although I guess I have a 100 tow with AAA, so could probably go anywhere in SoCal if necessary.
