So today was my turn at glow plug, module, swirl flaps, and a few vaccum hoses that were crap - should have done more hoses but was tired of it.

Took about 5 hours in total - overall things went ok - getting the back nut off and dealing with the stupid BMW connectors was the hardest part. I'm deleted so no EGR removal issue

Hello all,

new guy here. Today I bought mine. It's a 2011 with 65K on it. Got it from a BMW dealer. They put new tires, brakes, oil, air filter on and had the rims restored. The thing looks brand new. I get to pick her up tomorrow. I've had an E46 for the last 11 years and 200K miles and I hope this car is as good to me... I'll be good to her!

Have to admit being put off a bit, but thanks to this forum I see that BMW has extended the warranty period for the NOx Sensors and SCR Tank and that has put my mind a ease. The E46 is being replaced because the fuel pump is sealed in the tank (2004 SULEV model) and when it goes, it's a $6,000 part. You need the entire tank. Then a miserable weekend under the car to replace it. If it weren't for that I know the E46 would have lasted another few years.

I hope there is no surprises like that awaiting me with the 335d. It sure is nice looking, and man that torque is addicting! I couldn't stop punching it on the test drive. I hope to drive it a bit before doing the CBU cleaning but after seeing pictures I'm going to want to dive in.

Nice forum you guys have.

On road trip from FL to MI. Car only 3 months new to me. 2010 with 120k. Just did JR 2.8 tune, walnut blast, abc delete, ATM intercooler and air intake. Before I left I changed oil and filter and added Liqui Moly Pro-line engine flush. Ran engine 15 min at idle then changed oil and filter again. Expensive experiment but wanted to know how well it cleaned. Well, after 15 minutes of idle the oil and filter was black as coal. With the last oil change I added Liqui Moly ceramic additive.

I guess my engine is the exception rather than rule. I've driven 100 miles after oil change and oil was still clear. I've done this several times and always the same. I have only a small amount of oil in my catch can at 5000 mile empty interval of the can. I do change oil sooner than most at around 3500 miles.

Maybe I wasn't clear. I changed the oil/filter and added the engine cleaner. The idea was to see how dirty the oil got after the cleaner was added, not just after a regular oil change.
Maybe changing the oil after so few miles helps keep yours clean, but there is thread on TDI club that discusses the importance changing the oil at the recommended mileage (10k for TDI) because cleaning agents work during the early miles and the lubricants work during the later miles. Changing the oil too soon keeps you from getting the lubricity benefits. If I understood correctly.
Don't take this too literally. I'm not saying there is no lubrication early on, just verify that changing your oil after so few miles is actually beneficial for you. I'm assuming your talking about a diesel.

Yesterday was BMW CCA DIY day at BMW of Sterling. Everyone got a lift right off the bat, which was awesome. Checklist included: a) R&R rear diff fluid (Redline 75/90), b) R&R fuel filter, c) purge brake fluid and rotate tires, and d) check ATF fluid level. Total elapsed time with help from club member Warren: three hours.

Well I got the DEF No start light a while back. I finally got around to adding some a couple days ago. Had 350 km to no start, added 8 L to the passive tank. I expected the transfer pump to transfer.

After a few days I was down to 240 km to no start. So I added 6L to active tank, and another 2L to passive.

I think I'd read somewhere that if your active tank is too low the transfer pump is inhibited? Mileage seems right from my last fill, so I think it was working up until recently.

My Carly is in another car so I can't double check codes for now. Hopefully I'm not left adding to the active tank every 5000 km or so.

Did you get an actual letter from your local dealership? or the generic NA BMW letter saying that there is an active recall and they are "sourcing" the parts?

I did in fact receive a standard NHTSA recall notice letter from BMW. No dealership has contacted me yet. Car hasn't been to a BMW dealer since I purchased it out of state 2 years ago

Oh ok yea just found out that the ‘remedy is not available’ is still active for my car. I thought when they told me the recall is ‘open’ meaning the remedy also available. I got excited over nothing. Hope my car wont burn down by then. I wonder if it does burned down because of it does that mean BMW responsible to replace or upgrade mine with another one.

I bought my 335D in Texas on Last sunday. Drove 2k miles to Portland Or.

So far I have put in black grills. Today I did the rear fog light mod (not as bright as I was hoping for)

Ordered swirl flap detete

So far I'm in love with this car. Coming from my 2005 Passat TDI wagon. I'll miss the cargo room but the torque is worth the trade off.

Ditched the Continental run-flats, went with Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus tires. So glad I opted for non run-flats.

Note:
Some LCI cars have pre-LCI paddles. If your OEM paddles don't have "-" and "+" on them, they are pre-LCI paddles.

You'll need a steering wheel that has paddles. They have openings for the paddles.
