load based, so there would be an increase in psi at higher weather temps? I guess you can't get around this DME logic with a flash. what's the max psi that could be reached based on conditions?

when datalogging stock I've seen 7psi when cool and as high as 9.6psi when hot.

DME has torque targets and just for info with GIAC stage 2 i could boost 14.5 psi max in the winter (Canada type temperatures) and 16.8 psi in the summer.

Rob@Cobb: I got an N55 X5 owner local to you guys (in Austin, TX) who wants to stop by and get you guys a copy of the ECU Rom. Should I refer him to you by PM or have him just directly call you guys?

yeah, I don't like this logic especially since the stock timing tables tend to constantly want around 8-10deg advance even with increased boost and higher ambient temps. I would much rather lower psi and more consistent advance. In the summer i would be around 3 to 4deg and continually bouncing off the DME's target. In the winter... smooth.

is cobb timing based mainly off reducing advance in the stock tables, or more complex than that?

Well think about it. I'm sure they want to get the n54 platform completely done before they move on to another engine. This means once they have their AP units out they will begin testing stages II and III, etc. They also need to get a ProTuner out for shops as well as the Self tuner. I don't see the n55 tune coming out anytime before these other projects are complete.

Even if it takes a year, thats a whole lot faster development than the n54(5 years lol).

Eh, my V5 will do everything I want for now. I'd rather Cobb do everything they can to get the best product out than rush it and fail.

i agree

+ there is not much power to be gained in the n55. as a business outlook, it would be better to solidify your main target client (the majority - n54) versus the minority (n55 )

Thanks - But, I have to say, I hope you are wrong and they are doing some parallel development work. If it is going to be in that time frame, I hope Cobb lets us know. The impression I got from their posts was that the N55project had been started and they were working on it. I am sure they will let us know at some point.

Well I don't believe they have a n55 in their shop just yet. They were suppose to meet with of the 1addict members but he hasn't been called yet.

Ok, now THAT, I don't agree with. There are proven initial n55 gains with the JB and Procede currently. True, there are more cars with the N54 right now, but there's no getting around the fact that it has been retired in favor of the N55. The market is there and it is the future.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the N54 is a lesser platform. I think it's got more potential than the N55, but in terms of people looking for a solution like this (flash at home, flash back to stock) there are a TON of people that want this. Additionally, of those with the N54 that want to mod, the majority have already done so with Procede and JB. At this point, I think only a small percentage of those would see enough of a benefit to make the switch.

From a PM i had with Rob, and I quote: "Getting your ROM from you once I am a little further along in the N55 process would be very helpful. For now I have a couple of local N55s to work with."

So they are already working with N55's.

Don't over read. He said "to work with" not "working on"

They've said as much.

Euro support is something we will look into once we have a full product offering (All the stage maps are out, ATP is out, ATR is likely out, etc) for the N54 in the US.

Cheers,
Rob
Looks to me like they want to build a complete offering for N54 before moving on to euro spec and other platforms. It's not surprising. They're managing what they can manage. I've heard Rob already asking for a cloning machine. Development like this takes time. The fact that they've released a great stage 1 flash doesn't necessarily mean anything for other platforms.

I've noticed another firmware update for the AP today-- 1.6.3.2-1115. I applied 1111 on Friday but haven't had time to drive my car and see how the monitors have been updated yet. Looks like there's an option to add/hide certain monitors now, both in the live list and in the data log.

I just updated the first post in the thread with a new Frequently Asked Question document. Most of your concerns and questions regarding AccessPORT support and functionality are addressed there!

That said, please continue to bring us your questions! We are more than happy to answer any concerns or queries you have and we will continually update the FAQ with new information as we collect and process it!

As for N55 support, we do not have an ETA on availability of the AccessPORT for N55 vehicles at this time. Our current priority is to provide our full-tuning-solution for the twin-turbo N54 equipped 1, 3 and 5 series BMW's. While some development has begun on the N55, there is a lot left to do on the N54 before we put significant focus on the N55.
