You're essentially right about how the tune operates. The tune is looking to hit the load targets regardless of conditions. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that that it's full power or bust. There are caps in place to prevent over working the turbos.

Also, it's important to keep in mind how turbochargers work. Basically, all the turbo does is spin. The wastegate on the hot side opens or closes allowing more or less exhaust energy to spin the impeller faster or slower. As the impeller spins the compressor spins.
As engine speed increases the compresser speed must increase in order to maintain the same "boost" in the intake manifold. So, high boost in the low mid RPM range is A LOT easier on the turbos than it is in the high RPM range.

Here's COBB Website @ 1:04 AM EST. Servers crashed, killing the AP Updates, Map Downloads & COBB Blog. Hopefully it'll be up in the next couple of days, was looking forward to installing my new parts & using the Stage 2 Maps

Thanks for the response. I thought it was about right. I do realize that 15psi at 3.5k is less stress on the turbo then 15psi at 6000. My concern was just as temps/elevation changes and taking spirited driving trips to the mtns that I would wind up overworking the turbos and lead to a premature death. I wish (hope) in further updates they can address this further perhaps for us high altitude owners, since, in theory, our turbos are already spinning harder to make boost in stock form.

Out of curiosity, any idea on the caps? I'm sure it's same for sea level or 10,000 feet, which I know, not many people drive up that high, but the fun CO roads are up there so it would be nice to know. Or I suppose I just have to flash to stock map when I go up and back again when I come down.

I am running v401 stage 2+ fmic sport stock throttle here in AZ and recently took car in due to SES light. I got some cyclinder misfires and mixture control codes and my tech who worked on the car thinks my car was running too lean.

More than likely you were just experiencing the normal plug/coil/injector induced misfire. Do some logging to confirm that your AFRs are where they should be.

Dear Cobb:

I know the v.401 should be out of beta pretty soon but do you have any exciting features (*cough*on the fly map change*cough*) available for us in the very near future. Starting to get jealous of other tunes getting new stuff...lol

I'm more interested in getting the NLS integration that was hinted at 10 months ago

Im running COBB stage 2 +FMIC map, is it useless to run e85 since there are no cobb maps for it? Or will I benefit from running e85 using stage 2+FMIC? I just dont want to drive out of the way if I wont be getting any benefit from the e85.

Do some logs with 93 and if you have timing pulls after a few pulls add 10% more E85. Some some more pulls and check for timing pulls again. If still there add some more E85. It completely cures mine at 15%.

I updated the AP Manager this weekend. I was unable to update within the program though due to crashes. I got it working though if I:
1. Uninstalled AP Manager
2. Download new AP Manager from the website (it worked even though they had serverside problems).
3. Install the new AP Manager
4. Reboot computer (I got issues in the program before reboot, AP Manager said there was an update even though I had the newest version installed).
5. Voila!

We are currently working as fast as possible to get all of the server functions up and running as soon as possible! AP Manager and Firmware updates should be working better now.

Our next big BMW update will be AccessTUNER Race! Complete custom tuning available on any PC is a pretty cool update we think Then we'll be working on OTS meth maps. N55 development is also on-going, so we're staying pretty busy!

If you need ROM support, please email me and I'll help push it through.

Hi Ian - re: N55, is it only for the E9X platform or would you be looking at something for the F10 and X series with the N55 as well? Thanks!

Hey guys, so I sold my cobb last week. The guy I sold it to sent me this pic of the cobb, and it says the map is locked. I uninstalled the tune from my car prior to selling it. What is the issue here? Did I not unmarry it correctly?

Does he have a different DME? Maybe he needs to delete the maps from your old Cobb and download the proper ones for his DME#.
