Well, I can say that Jeff is VERY responsive. Didn't even take a day to respond. However, he can't help me out since I'm in California. This is his reply:

California residents are limited to California dealers for their BMW extended warranties. If you have a non-California address for registration of the extended warranty, please forward to me.

Business Manager

Guess I'm screwed and will need to work with CA BMW dealerships. Crap..

The only dealer (Center BMW) that called me back gave me pretty much what the posts have here so far:
Mechanical only (no need for maintenance IMO)

Gold: 7yr/70k, $3,370 ($50 deductible)
Platinum: 7yr/70k, $3,730 ($50 deductible)

My car only has less than 27,000 miles so I didn't even ask for the 7yr/100k quote.

Hi all,

First post on the forums. I have a 2011 BMW 335XI with 48500 miles. It's a late model build, September 2011. I purchased it in May 2014 with 35000 miles. I reached out to Jeff and several other dealers for competitive pricing on the extended warranty and maintenance programs. I won't reveal Jeff's pricing, however the following pricing I received from a local dealer.

72/100k maintenance - $1449
BMW ESC Gold 72/100 - $3390
BMW ESC Platinum 72/100 - $3810

I think I'm going to pass on the extended warranty program. My friend owns an auto shop so I'm confident he can tackle anything that comes up in the next 50k miles for a reasonable cost *knocks on wood*. My question is - how do you guys feel about the maintenance program for $1449? Sounds to me like it's a very reasonable price considering I will need several oil changes, filters, spark plugs, and most expensively breaks. I, like most of you, drive spirited.

Brakes are the easiest DIY around, and saves 1/2 the cost of BMW's $1200 (typical) quotes. You've got a friend, use him, his labor rate is going to be lower than BMW.

And, on the warranty stuff: it's parts I'd worry about. The water pump is $500.

This is a*very* informative thread. Really appreciate the contributions.

I am considering my third 2008 135i. I owned my lat two under warranty and used it. Concerned about owning one without and not finding CPO'd 135i convertibles with the color/options I want.

Is there a reliable extended warranty company the BMW enthusiasts have utilized that has a good reputation?

I've got a 2008 328i fully loaded. Here are the MSRPs for each option:
Maintenance:
6/100 $2095.

Extended Warranty:
Powertrain plus
5/100 $1600
6/100 $1820
7/70 $1880
7/100 $2090

Gold
5/100 $2170
6/100 $2530
7/70 $2630
7/100 $2980

Platinum
5/100 $2380
6/100 $2800
7/70 $2910
7/100 $3310

The above pricing sheet was given to me three days ago.

The Gold extended warranty is an exact carbon copy of the CPO warranty - same coverage, same deductible, etc.
I give credit to the car dealers for coming up with the CPO concept - it's a helluva marketing gimmick to fleece the public.
Hi, I'm new here. Don't really know where the thread is to post and reply to messages.

I am looking for an extended warranty on my 07 328i with 77k on it, I currently have an ext warranty which expires in June, Don't want to be without one, looking for good recommendations and great pricing. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

I purchased one through LDS as well on my 2011 335i. I bought it used with 45k miles. I got the 6 yr 100k mile for $1850. I was quoted $2500 initially and negotiated it down. The dealer gave me a price with warranty and once in the finance office tried to add the 2500.00 back on top of the agreed upon price. Pissed me off so I got up to leave and they lowered the warranty price and got me a lower interest rate as I refused to budge on the originally agreed upon price and that was the only way they could save the deal. Sales manager wasn't happy. He was all in the sale until the finance guy had to save it, then he literally left for the night without saying anything else to me. I wasn't being unreasonable, I just wanted the deal I agreed to.

I was able to get a much better deal from Joey Floyd, the finance manager at Athens BMW. His e-mail is: joey.floyd@athensbmw.com

I shopped around and also got the best deal from Joey Floyd at Athens BMW in Athens, Georgia. Other dealers mentioned here didn't really want to deal with me, plus the dealer I bought my car from told me that BMW set the prices, so they couldn't come off of MSRP (other than a 'coupon' for a few bucks off). Joey offered no excuses and made it easy. Highly recommended.

that's funny, I just got a similar reply from a BMW dealership near Chicago, saying "an outside company" sets the price, no negotiating...

I bet they tell everyone that and the few sales they lose doesn't concern them compared to the people who pay full price.

Interesting, Jeff's 72 70,000 mile quote to me was $460 higher than a local dealer who said "our prices are set"

Can you purchase a BMW extended warranty on a used BMW if it doesn't currently have a factory or CPO warranty? I've always wanted a BMW and I'm in the market for a new car right now and I think an extended warranty will give me peace of mind from any crazy repairs. If not, then would a warranty with Fidelity or Route 66 suffice?

Not from BMW - salvage title means there might be undiscovered problems.

I just met with Jeff and signed up for an extended warranty, as my factory warranty just expired. The price was great and the coverage is incredible. I shopped around and received over a dozen quotes. His was by far the best. While my car was there, they did an inspection and one of my coils was bad. They replaced it under BMWs good will policy. Jeff and the guys at passport BMW are awesome! As he requests, I can't post what I paid, but I guarantee you won't find a better deal.

Did you try joey.floyd@athensbmw.com ?
He had the best deal when I shopped around a few months ago.
