Until you reach Advanced Solo you can't go on the track without an instructor, at least not in any driving school I've been to.

Actually BMWCCA and NASA allow Intermediate Solo. But an instructor is still needed to get better.

Oil cap is easy to get off and remove with this crossbar in place and it looks easy to get oil in with a funnel. So I guess oil changes won't suck after all.

Not even close. Drove it home, parked it in the garage, put it on the battery tender, set up the Stack gauges last night and took apart the lower driver side dash to fix the PLX gauge and sensors. Tech ticket in to PLX and replacement sensor modules and gauge arrived today. Remote coding packet from TopGearSolutions arrived yesterday, haven't scheduled that yet. Still need to fix the Accusump valve indicator LED broken wire and swap out the Stack EGT gauge for one of their Voltmeter gauges so I have to terminate it to match my Molex connectorization. Did pull the BT antenna and door chime speaker though, eliminated a whopping 12oz of weight!

Gotta get the readiness monitors set next so the state inspection can get done and I can go get the in-date registration sticker. Then I'll feel better about driving it around a few hundred miles.

And the battery's still not charged. Really drained it mucking up the Stack oil temp gauge setup as the diff cooler pump kept running until I learned to read. Damn is that sumbitch ever loud, wow. But on the track it'll be unnoticeable so there's that.

Finally got the wiring error fixed so the PLX gauge and the AFR/EGT sensors are working.

It did turn out pretty good in the end, surprisingly. Got the Accusump valve LED fixed this morning and it's just the right brightness to catch attention. Had to latch off the valve though since they wired it to the battery rather than an ignition circuit. So it'll have to stay off until the drive cycle is complete and the inspection is completed so the kill switch can be cycled to reset the relay latch.

Got the Stack voltmeter today and am debating swapping out the EGT gauge for it but the logger will allow voltage to be displayed on the DASH3 so it'd be kinda redundant. Then again the EGT is redundant to the PLX EGT since they mounted the thermocouple near the head rather than the AFR sensor like I thought might be sorta useful, guess not. But the Stack EGT gauge doesn't have an analog out so the PLX EGT is needed to get logged data.

BTW, the Accusump valve power comes from somewhere that turns off when the car's locked, like it does for the aux power sockets which may be the tap they connected to given the relay is buried somewhere under the middle of the dash. So that's good news anyway.
