thats an old belief, there is no evidence backing that up, there is no way metal shavings are holding it together, its acutally the opposite, the valves, spools, and check vavles that make the trans shift can be gunked up by clutch material and metal shavings in the oil and causing more damage, and since atf is a detergent oil, new oil can actively clean some of the gunk out

yeh im just going by past experiences... i think ill flush it out come summertime and see wat happens... cause if it breaks, i can jsut drive the m around

i never did a power flush, i just always drained and refilled, and drained the converter too, but i'm not sure if the rav 4 has a trans pan and filter, honda's and some toyotas dont even have trans filters, thats why most automatic hondas have badly slipping transmissions
