After one year of ownership, I changed the oil, cabin filter and air filter. As usual, the dealership over torqued the oil drain bolt just like they did the lug nuts and who knows what else.

Something is draining the heck out of my battery. I have two guesses:

1. CAS
2. FSR

I recoded the CAS as a troubleshooting step and it didn't resolve the issue. I noticed that my blower motor will not go above 50%, leading me to think that the FSR could be bad. I've unplugged the motor and FSR and am charging the battery, waiting for it to go into sleep mode, and then checking if the battery drain error persists.

ISTA/D suggests it's a low probability of the CAS, but I'm guessing the FSR is somehow keeping it from entering sleep mode. If it's not the FSR, I'll be checking the CAS next.

Edit: well, it's the battery! Thanks autozone and ISTA. Brand new battery is bad warranty FTW!

I originally went to the dealership for my alignment, but they botched it. Took it to a local BMW specialist (AutoTechnic in New Milford, CT), and they nailed it. Highly recommend them for anyone in Central, CT.
You are going to want to put Hotchkiss adjustable swaybar links on. Otherwise your sway bars are not sitting in a natural position. You at least have to lengthen the sway bar links up front by an inch.

If you want even better handling, install M3 subframe bushings & M3 differential bushings too.

Changed the ATF & Pan filter out.

Took the fan & FMIC out.

Unplugged inlet line, with the special 4 prong tool I got at FCP Euro for $13.00, on the Transmission cooler put it into a 1 gallon jug.

Then had my son start the car and drained out 2 qts out.

Stopped the car.

Used my motive fluid transfer gadget to fill the Transmission filter with 2 quarts of fresh tranny fluid.

Did this about 4 times & then put the trans cooler line back on.

Turned the car on, ran it through the gears a few times. Added some trans fluid.

Then ran the car till the tranny fluid was at 90F. Did a final fill and put the car back together.

I had about 14 qts of tranny fluid.

I use Amsoil ATF. Great stuff.

All trans fluid is bright red through and through the entire tranny.

Car shifts nice and silky smooth

Went and bought Meguairs Plastx to tidy up my headlights, they weren't bad but I wanted to clean them up.

Then caked on some Meguairs Wax.

Stuff works really well!

Just replaced my tension struts and wishbones on my 2009 E90 328i with 70k miles and it only took 2 hours at a slow pace. My tension strut bushings were both leaking and I started noticing that the steering feel wasn't as tight as it used to be. My wishbones were still fine though. For whatever it's worth, the factory control arms on my E90 were TRW.

I didn't want to deal with M3 wishbones (new headlight level, issues fitting the bushing end into the subframe and an alignment) so I just used the TRW M3 tension struts with new Lemforder stock wishbones. The M3 and stock tension struts are the exact same dimension so no alignment is needed. This is a sensible compromise as my original wishbones were still in good condition. The fluid filled bushing on the tension strut are the main problem, which is addressed with the M3 tension strut.

The M3 tension struts alone are a great upgrade. Handling is much tighter and more responsive to steering input. Fore and aft movement is reduced and the car feels rock solid under heavy braking when it would previously wander. Road feel is increased and so is NVH, with slightly harsher bumps and a bit more vibrations transmitted to the cabin. I have Michelin AS3s for reference.

I soaked all the hardware with penetrating fluid overnight and my Mastercraft 7.5A impact wrench (240 ft-lb max) took the 21mm balljoint locknuts off without any issues. A short extension was required to access the wishbone balljoint nuts.

All parts were from FCP who pricematched RMEuropean.

Leaky tension strut bushings at 70k miles:

Replaced blower motor and final stage resister combo meal. Not a bad job unless yours looked like mine, completely shorted out , trying to release the power clip ripped open my finger, the clip melted into the FSR. Do not know how to load picks but it was a mess.
Party On.

I would strongly disagree with your assessment on the alignment. Any time you replace any suspension components (especially control arms), you should get an alignment.

Not getting one was your choice.....but it should not be common practice.

Why? There is no adjustment with our control arms. You only need the alignment with M3 wishbones due to their increased length, which increases negative camber and toe in. My toe and camber were unchanged.

This is very very common. After any major suspension work (which a control arm job most certainly is), an alignment is required.

Though the stock arm isn't necessarily adjustable, the alignment of all suspension components doesn't necessarily stay the same simply because you swap in a new part. Even the most minute of movement of an arm bolted into a joint has an effect on the alignment. If you remove any arms, or even listen certain suspension bolts, then alignment can be thrown off.

Research it. I'm not blowing smoke. I strongly suggest an alignment.

After days of putt-putt-ing around in Map 8 and under 2k RPM with my cracked chargepipe, I finally got my VRSF charge pipe and Tial BOV and installed them today. Took some maneuvering. Can't wait to get thrown into my seat once again tomorrow.
