Do you mean a Windows Media phone? I had a QTEK 9210, which is prob (still) the smallest normal-sized wifi, bluetooth, ms mobile phone around.

Was fully compatible with both my non i-drive e92, and Microsoft software, ActiveSync, etc.

I picked up a Sony Ericsson z750i today from Fido. Works perfectly with the car, phonebook transfers and all that without delay.

Or has BMW made some kind of agreement with that proprietary solution apple company always trying to rule out any healthy competition?

My old SE K750i transfers its phone book just fine. Why can't the bloody iDrive remember that phone book when I switch back to the Nokia device??
The Nokia N-series phones have always compatibility issues with the BMW Bluetooth whereas most Sony Ericsson phones work flawlessly. If you read several posts back in the thread, you will find a like to a Nokia patch. Some claim to have gotten their N series phones to work and some claim that the patch installed successfully but the phonebook still won't transfer to the BMW bluetooth. Try your luck and let us know!

Does anyone know if the LG env2 from Verizon is compatible? It's not listed on the links Spazdoc posted, but it is a relatively new phone. Thanks for any advice!

The best I can say is, maybe. From the conversations I had with the BMW dealers in Virginia a couple of weeks ago, the phones are tested by BMW with the specific software levels and if they work they get added to the official BMW sanctioned list. The LG env2 may not have gotten through the testing. From the BMWUSA affiliate website: "Only with the use of BMW compatible handsets with compatible software levels will you be guaranteed trouble-free performance and access to all supported functions." We'll see how well this holds true in a week or so when I get my BMW compatible handset with compatible software level. Note, too, that there are different software levels with different carriers. For example, the Blackberry Pearl (8100) from AT&T uses version 4.2.1.96 while T-Mobile uses 4.2.1.107.

If you're looking for a snap-in cradle for in the armrest you're not likely to find one for your make and model of phone. The list seems to be out of date to the point that few of the phones listed as having available cradles are even made anymore.

I'm not sure that's a fair statement. I have had no problems with my Nokia 6230i except when used with the car. It's functioned well both in Europe and in North America. It's only when connected to the car do I have a problem and I place 100% of the blame for that on BMW for not fully/properly utilizing an international standard.

It's one of the few fully compatible phones out there.

I had paired my 335i with an LG CU500, the function had worked except for downloading contact list. My phone and Emergency SOS function stopped working all of a sudden one morning. I took it to the BMW Center who said the cause of the problem is that I paired it with a non-approved phone. They also said I should not pair any non-approved phones or risk BMW not paying for the repairs to re-program the phone functions even though pairing with a non-approved phone doesn't void the warranty. They will go ahead and do the repairs and not charge me this time since I've only had less than three weeks and 600 miles on the car.

Has anyone heard of this?

Have just upgraded my TyTN 2 phone to Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and (a) it still works with my E90 and (b) the signal strength feature now works correctly.

I tried to rea thorugh the list and followed the link at the top of this page but still have a question. According to the website in Post 507, there is no Sprint phone available for a 2007 335 that is BMW certified. Can anyone tell me if this is truly the case or did I read the list wrong. I guess worst case I buy a phone and get the unlock code to make it work but would prefer to buy/get a phone with the rebates.

In respnse to my own question, if someone else has the same one... I called the Dealership this morning and the list of phones for the 2008 BMW is compatible with the 2007. In my case the 2007 335 will be fully integrated with the Sprint phones listed under the 2008.

Barring possibly software updates for the car, that's correct, there shouldn't be any difference that I know of. And I doubt the car's bluetooth profile would be changed all that much either, so yeah, they should all be the same.

I have a Sprint Mogul (piece of crap) and as far as I know it works completely with my 08 335i. I don't really know if there's anything that it should do other than just make and receive calls and show the address books, so I guess it works 100%.

The new 3G iPhone kinda works, but has problems. No music (for v27.x), and there is an echo on voice calls (v27.x and v29.9).

I just got an env2 on Wednesday and paired it up with my 07 328i that day. It paired immediately and the phone book transferred without delay. Call quality through the BT is outstanding.

CORRECTION:

V3XX (AT&T branded) purchased this week 7/13/2008 has updated software and is NOT compatible!

None of the Motorola wireless phones offered on the BMW website are available for purchase. All are considered out of date
