Ok so from GenePoole's DWAI settings, I have the follow differences: (his settings)
QUIT_AKUST_SCHAERF aktiv (nicht_aktiv) DEF_QUIT_AKUST_ENTSCH nicht_aktiv (aktiv) DEF_QUIT_AKUST_SCHAERF_KL nicht_aktiv (aktiv) PIAU_AKUST_ENTSCH nicht_aktiv (aktiv) PIAU_AKUST_SCHAERF_KLAPPE nicht_aktiv (aktiv) The first setting is the chirp when disarming The 2 DEF and PIAU I have no idea what they do. I guess I'll just apply it to my car and see what happens... Anyone know what those 4 do? Last edited by turbocomppro; 12-16-2010 at 05:25 AM.. |

Eventually I want to add the factory alarm, but I’m not sure which option to add to the VO:
S301A ALARM SYSTEMS S302A THEFT ALARM WITH REMOTE CONTROL S303A BURGLAR AL. WITH TILT ALARM SENSOR Also, I retrofitted an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror (no premium pack on my car) and I read rumors that the vehicle needed to be recoded for everything to function 100%, but dismissed them at the time as mere heresay. Looking through the list of vehicle option codes posted, I see there is one for rain sensor and auto-dim mirror: S432A RAIN SENSOR/INT. MIRROR AUTO DIM ACTION. Perhaps the VO does need to be modified for this?? |

No need to do any coding or updates to VO for new mirror to operate correctly.
I went from a plain jane mirror from factory to Auto Dim/Homelink/Compass mirror using the required adapter harness - everything works just as it should As for the alarm question - I would like to know the same thing as I have to change my VO for the alarm I retrofitted some time ago. By looking at the choices I would say choice would be S303A BURGLAR AL. WITH TILT ALARM SENSOR but with these cars anything goes...

Yea I was wondering that as well.
I am not sure if you can get away with just activating the codes, or if you need to also add it in the VO section. From the reading I have done on the other forum, it looks like they got it working with just changing the codes to active. They were using it on old generation BMW. I don't think much has changed in terms of xenon headlights. |

Blah... I tried every setting... I even try setting all the settings in the DWAI to active and the siren is still "beep" "beep" "beep" when the alarm is tripped. I guess the China siren is just different from the rest of the world...
Anyone selling a used siren? |

Regarding the alarm, anyone know what the factory option code is on U.S. cars for the factory-installed alarm? That should tell us which option code needs to be added to the VO. I’m curious about this too, especially since there seems to be a distinction between the HIDs and the leveling device(s). According to the info posted on the previous page, they are separate option codes so perhaps adding S522A XENON-LIGHT will allow HIDs to be installed, since it seems S220A LEVELLING DEVICE and S221A TWO-AXLE LEVELLING DEVICE represent the auto-leveling system. Not that there’s any correlation, but on my previous VW I was able to code the car for HIDs without auto-leveling without a problem, despite no factory cars being equipped with HIDs and without auto-leveling. Heck, I was even able to code the car for HIDs without the bi-xenon shutter, despite all of the factory HIDs being bi-xenons. |

^^ I am sure you can enable the xenon features and then disable the self levelling codes. This has to work if it worked for previous generations.
Disabling just the cold check won't do much for those that did a straight swap from halogen to oem xenons. You will still get flickers/shut offs. |

Silly question: Without a car (but with a cable) is there any way to check if everything is working correctly XP-wise? Or do I just need to wait for the car (next week!) and see?

Searching the thread for "alarm," there are 28 posts returned and it's still not clear if S302A ($302) is the proper option code for the U.S. factory alarm or if it's the one that was used and happened to work. |

I tried to activate the panic mode but I don't know if it works. I have a 3 button remote. I tried to hold the trunk button but all it does is open my trunk... how do you all set your panic alarms off if you have the 3 button FOB?

Prior to any coding, once you connect all the hardware for the alarm on the car, you will already have the blinking clown nose as well as the panic alarm feature. |

I've tried a few different values, seems you need to have an alarm installed to be able to use this feature as stated above.
