I agree with that, if you are lucky enough to get a good salesperson on your first visit, that should set the stage for you.

Mine was like this. ^

I told them I wanted a Jerez Black M3 Sedan with Fox Red leather and would be placing an order 3 months from my visit.

They had one on the lot (Jerez Black / Fox Red). But wouldn't even open the door so I could better see the interior colour.

I was referred to Alex at Elite and ordered a pretty loaded M3 Sedan including the non advertised 2011 Competition Package as special order and picked up my car in Munich.

Otto's didn't seem to have any interest in my business, and were very arrogant, as if I would be so lucky to buy a car from them.

+1 for Alex at Elite. Had a good experience with him.

Kinda the same thing for me: Went to Otto's, knew what I wanted, they tried to talk me out of what I wanted ("sport package? why would you want that?", because they had none on the lot), and then said they'd look at auctions and dealers to find me something. After 2 weeks I heard nothing, I followed up, and was basically told I wouldn't find what I wanted, and would be best served by buying something off their lot. It should be noted all I wanted was sports package, NO i-drive. I was essentially indifferent to colour (basically there was 2 colours I didn't want) and transmission!

I assume they didn't take me seriously because I'm young-ish looking, and was probably dressed like a scrub, wearing shorts and a hoody.

Their loss!

Question

The moral of the story: buy at Elite, service at Otto.

I think the moral is that it is a case by case deal.

Agreed -- Sales staff were OK at Elite, but I had better luck at Otto's.

They both blow ... but well what can you do right? Both master techs are good for their regular clientele who mostly know nothing....they are pretty much replica of this sleepy civil servant town lol...just do the bare minimum. No offense to anyone, but its the truth!

I buy my cars down in Toronto (Maranello) (E46/E92) and once in Montreal (Canbec) (E36). Flawless experience each time and thats why I keep doing it.

All 3 times I have tried to buy locally in hopes that I will get someone who will give the service at a level I am want/accustomed too, but nope they are too good for me! So I do minimal business both places. I understand that not everyone is willing to go this far ... but I have told this true story to many of my friends and they managed did the same as me and saved some $$$ and got top notch service.

So at this point, Elite/Otto combo has lost total of about 30-40 lease/purchases in past 8-10 years! This includes few top dollar vehicles such as 7er's, M5, X5M's, and X6M (Winter mobile!)

I did my part and perhaps when we get some more competition, they will do theirs, but till then its good enough for me.

Cool

Amen to this statement. All dealers = same $h1t different pile.
I bought my car from a GTA dealer which wasn't as pleasant either.
Sadly, 99% of Otto and Elite clients are diplomatic corps here.

99%, no doubt they have a good diplo business but that figure seems quite high. I can't see a business case based around that high of a number and there are plenty of bimmers in Ottawa without the telltale red license plate.

Cool Not as important

Agree 99% seems quite high.
However, it's high enough that the salespersons can afford to treat a Joe Schmoe like me like a secondary customer.
The salespersons' assumptions are "cash and carry" customers are more important THAN those losers who require finance arrangements (although I paid my car cash).

I got my car back from Camco last night, and it looks flawless. I was very impressed, and am very pleased to be back in my car after ~5 weeks without it.

Gingerly drove her home and then installed my winter wheels (Gunmetal 18" M wheels).

Happy Camper here.

Question

I get really f**king fed up with both Elite and Otto's. I repeatedly told them not to wash my car, they did. Wooohooo, a service under warranty with swirl mark treatments on my car.
This happens four times at Otto's.

Thats why you need to write in big font "DO NOT WASH" on multiple 8 by 11 papers and stick those papers on your side windows, rear window, windshield. Yeah its excessive but at least your car won't get washed.

Hi All:

Friday night coming from a long distance trip I managed to hit a giant pot hole (which followed with hitting the curb in my paranoid state) all at 120km/hr in 2008 335i coupe.

Front wheel is cracked and will be replaced (ordered one online already). However, I have my DSC and ABS/Brake light (both amber) on and the steering wheel is crooked (goes straight only when held a bit more that quarter turn from its standard spot).

In my 15 years of driving the 3'ers I have never had this happen to me, but looks like it was my turn (after reading about many such events on other forums).

Otto's is fully booked and I need to get the car ready (for my work) immediately. So my question: is there any local indy shop anyone can recommend that is as picky as I am regarding my suspension. I want it to be the way it was when new (or better!) and someone who will have updated equipment to deal with 335i's computer etc?

I get the feeling that there is some serious damage done because the rim is cracked from few places. I would think that much of an impact must have taken the front control arm, bushings, tie rods, and even the shock with it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Cool

Try Duss Brothers 613-729-3245.
The first thing first is to check if there is any play on the wheels from the outer tie rods, then alignment, then check the suspensions, then check the strut towers, then reset the steering angles, etc, etc, etc.

Anything dealing with the front control arm, bushings, tie rods, and even the shock is a b1tch.

Thanks all for your help.

Rudy managed to take me in .. in a hurry.. I think i have now become a permanent rudy customer He had so many cars lined up but took me in and put the car up on hoist immediately.

So far: Wheel (Expected) + Tie Rods (Changed both just for sake of it) + Alignment + Lots of Prayers !

Alignment results won't come in till tomorrow and then we will find out if there is any subframe issues.

Fingers crossed!
