Best thing to do is; get what ever brand camera your friends have, that way you can learn from them and use there gear.

Yea, for the decent lenses. But the lenses is your best investment, plus you will keep lenses for YEARS. Where people tend to go through camera bodies a lot more often.

yeah, thats a good tip. but none of my friends or family are really into photography. they only have P&S's

Canon or Nikon then. They are widely available, and the knowledge and community are massive. Plus its easier to find accessories/lenses/flashes etc.

The Canon 7D is a fuk'n game changer. I wouldn't mind replacing my 40D with a 7D.
