Blows my mind that people don't have common sense etiquette.
There's this chubby dude that comes in everyday at my old gym fully decked out in every workout accessory you can think of, think he's the hottest shit. When he used the leg press, loads 6-8 plates on each side, does maybe a 15 degree press if I'm being generous. And leaves it like that. Two times I've seen him do that and a tiny girl comes up to use the machine after him and needs help taking all the plates off. So annoying |

I joined around 5 gyms at various times and never I had an instructional tour or orientation about rules like to be polite to other gym members, put weights back, don't block rack and so on. All they cared was to get my money and credit card. So this is one problem right there from the beginning as you join the gym - and imho gym owners are partially responsible for this mess
Another issue is that our society has "degraded" during last 25 years - so that a new generation or even two generations are now brought up with junk in their heads. Economic instability and issues in US created a huge amount of people who think differently than a normal human. They are surviving and your good manners in gym is probably last in their priority list lol Unfortunately we created a Frankenstein and now it's too late to complain. I'm tired of dealing with such "people", I can't change them, I can't make them better or teach them anything. I just avoid them and don't go to gyms that have majority of such individuals |

In countries that are on the rise however, it's opposite - younger generation is brought up in better conditions and more polite and considerate of others, while older folks are a menace. My point is not age per se, but society at different times. Our society right now is bad, very bad - so I kinda accept it and learn to live with it |

Love my gym, no pool, treadmills, towel service or any of the other crap you find at big name gyms, keeps the idiots out. When you join they give you a tour and lay down all the rules, if you break the rules they kick you out. We still get some idiots though, last night some dude asking me if I was done with the bench while in the middle of a squat and stood there expecting me to answer him, had to explain to him why it's important to let people finish their set before talking to them.

Nothing annoys me more than: Dropping Weights and unnecessary yelling/noises while lifting. Yes... I wear headphones, but still. Or me having to ask someone I need to get in and workout there while you texting or yapping.

hate this too, such a "look at me" move, there's people here that will argue they lift so much weight that lowering those weights without slamming them is impossible, I completely disagree, I have seen many body builders at different gyms and none of them slam weights, I doubt anybody here is lifting more than that

Only being able to press a 45lb dumbbell with my left arm even 6 months after surgery. I don't have the emotional energy to care about what anyone else may or may not be doing

If I can feel the weights dropping from across the gym so much that it startles me, you're dropping weights too hard.

It motivates me lol. I remember ready to be done at the 2 mile mark on the treadmill because I was tired. Then a female with a beautiful bottom began doing the Stairmaster right in front of me. I completed an extra two miles!
Not much bothers me except for when someone racks or removes weights on my bench WHILE I am lifting. |

i went back maybe 5 pages but i'll chime in! annoys me for the guys that chalk the crap out of all the equipment (plates, barbells, dumbells, bars) and that crap gets all over you! also, people who don't wipe off their nasty sweat off the gym equipment and you need to use it
this is why i end up spending 30 more minutes at the gym! all these yoga pants left and right squatting, bending over and jumping! not that i'm complaining but damn! ever try to workout without getting a hard on?

I wear Beats headphones at the gym. It's more comfortable than earbuds (except when working in a declined position) and they (over ear headphones) block out ambient noise without you having to blast your own music.
