3. MGU, MGU F

The only one of these things that I would care about might be the head unit since everything that I have read shows that ID8.5 is not compatible with these; However, everything I read also said that the MY24 would come with a newer headunit so I am not going to believe everything I read on the internet.

I also don't typically mess with the temperature controls - I leave it on 72 auto and let it do its thing. So, having more user friendly climate controls is not that big a deal to me.

Bear in mind that my CA didn't even know which version of ID it had or how to even check it - pitiful.

Also, there were written reports that the MY24 would have the 48v mild hybrid - mine does not. So, it is quite possible that BMW will do a mid-year refresh incorporating both the newer head unit and the 48v MH. I will take the older head unit and no mild hybrid please.

While waiting for my car I was wondering what to do about ugly screen holder, as you can see on the first picture.

I saw that the new BMW X7 has better solution for this screen holder, as you can see on the second picture. Does anybody know if we can buy this peace of plastic to make it look as it is in X7?

I have thought about that too - I bet there will be aftermarket solutions for this pretty soon. To me, BMW should have modified the dash and provided support from a lower point in back - the way they did it looks like an afterthought.......

I am not sure I like the solution posted in the picture better tho; Will have to think about it.

You American are so lucky, the delivery time for Europe is quite long

I've finally ordered mine in the end of August but it's not built yet

Yeah, if production was in Germany it would be much better for us.

I was in contact with my dealer today. He told me that the production was successfully and that the car is already at the port waiting for ship. Timeline:
May 28 - Deposit
August 25 - Order Received (week 41 allocation)
October 5 - Production Begins
October 17 - Production finished/At the port waiting for ship

If I understood correctly the ship is going from Veracruz port to Bremerhaven port, is that correct? Also does ship make any stops between these two ports? How can I find name of the ship that my car is on?

Thank you for help.

Hi!

Where are you from in Europe?

You're right, the ship is leaving Veracruz to Bremerhaven. I don't think it does any stop between the two harbours

Your salesman or BMW genius can give you the name of the ship!

Ordered mine August 29th in southern US. Didn’t go into “production begins” until yesterday. I’ll assume my delivery time is quicker than European lol

Supposedly mine is on the truck to the dealer and should arrive there any day. I hope I can pick it up no later than this weekend.
Will be hard saying goodbye to my 2015 M235 after loyal 105k miles.

As I placed my order to the dealer the same day as you, I hope the production will begin soon as yours

They are both bad. Also, they should have rounded the edges of the screen like the new X1 and X2.

I wouldn't be surprised that mine (week 46 build) and yours will be on the same ship :'D

We don't have any "BMW Geniuses" here in EU (as far as i know). The dealer lets us know that the car came to the EU port/destination country and then we wait for it to get through customs and to the dealer.

I don't want to be rude but I hope mine gets on the ship before your car is built, because I really want to drive it until the end of this year Fingers crossed you will also get your car this year.

Ah, that is too bad. For EU is really hard to track car progress. Yeah, dealer told me that he will notify me as soon as car come to EU. Maybe that will be in next month. I assume that the ship goes every month from Mexico to Germany, that's why I am tracking on which ship my car could be

Alright, my BG M240 xDrive - pretty much fully loaded - has arrived at the dealer. Pick up this Saturday. Soon I will be “graduating” from this thread.
