We aren't here to have a piss fight. Mact and many others are here to have their own perspective on the market. If you don't like what Mact and I have to say, then you can leave. You don't need to act like a 10 year old about it.

Look, I'm really sorry that you shorted the market and lost a bunch of money. Please don't take it out on me.

Short? Who said I was shorting? I have 0 short position and many long positions..

My post from January 2016: This thread exploded when the market finally looks bearish. I have been holding 90% cash since SPY hit 200. Is this just a minor pullback or a beginning of the bears? However, I'm quite interested in jumping on USO for a long term play. I'm holding off till crude hit $20 and I'll start my position.

Don't hold USO as a long term play. The roll will kill you.

I hope your 90% cash position is just your play money and nothing serious. I cannot impress upon anyone the importance of maintaining exposure (whether long or short) in any market environment. Case in point, I am up 9% YTD because I maintained my exposure, but had cash waiting to build positions. Sure some positions moved against me, but the overall exposure in the portfolio made up for it.

Anyway, back to some analysis. Though you can't usually use the day before a holiday weekend as a gauge, I think the price action near the close in small caps is indicating a further squeeze higher. The big resistance sits around 2084.

Honestly...the idea that you can time the market as a whole is a joke, can't believe several on this board are claiming to be able to. Should always be "in it" and always ready to get "in it" more unless you're 65 or something.

You guys are funny...who said anyone can time the market perfectly all the time?...nobody...we make educated guesses thats all...looks like I was wrong on this one...mkt didn't behave like I thought it would...jury is still out to some degree but certainly looks likes like we want to grind higher now.

But if we make new highs it won't last long...the most money will be made to the down side over the next 1-2 yrs...confidant about that one.

But like I said before if we make new all time highs and its clear I am completely wrong, I won't post on this thread anymore just like I promised...you won't see me whining, when i am wrong I just lose money and I won't be back just as promised...this thread has evolved into proving people wrong more than contributing anyway.

"Educated guesses" and "technical analysis" are misnomers, you are engaging in speculation in this thread. Call it what it is.

I see that you didn't learn your lesson. That's pure speculation and you're probably going to lose even more money. Good Luck.

I'll bite - So if you are holding 90% cash, when do you plan to get back in? Above you said when crude hit $20, still the plan?

So if you are right, are you out completely now, waiting until some point to get back in or do you plan on jumping in and out daily/weekly/monthly to do the best. What is this point to get back in? I don't see how to take really long term information and actually use it.

Isn't there a big difference between B7 and B11?

Chapter 11 is reorganization - will stay in business with a plan for solvency. Chapter 7 is liquidation - company ceases to exists and sells off assets. Probably something you would want to know before investing in a company.

roastbeef You probably want to stay away from, 'market plays' until you understand the basics. This is very basic data and I, for one, have no trouble admitting that I have lost money in my early 20's on, 'market plays'. Do some solid research, learn the basics, and develop a solid plan.

Good luck.
