Hi,
I am still waiting a response from Cargiant to get money back. I had a call from them , they fixed the problem by replacing injectors and another components with the spark plug. they told me that the previous bmw dealer didn't repair properly...I think that it's just a temporary remedy.... |

Did you take it 3 times to the dealers or previous owners - or mix of both?? Run it low on fuel, get some Vpower in, take it for a rag see if there's any diff afterwards.

Hello,
New to the site so apologies if tread on any toes!! Bought by 318i ES Edition last year on 58 plate. Extremely happy as moved from a 02 Ford Focus, different world and all that! There was a flat spot but thought that was normal engine issue, nothing serious and could drive round it. After 7 months flat spot got worse and had major hesitancy, coughing and idling issues. Took it to the dealer who agreed yes a problem. 5 trips later they gave the car back as fixed, I drove the car and it had the same issues as went in originally although running at 90-95% of where I thought it should be. My issues are 1) idling issue (coughs on tick over) 2) hesitancy 3) pulsing at high speed 4) coughing (especially in 4th gear with aircon on and engine hot). Dealers have looked at car and said no issues on ECU, therefore nothing to fix..... They asked what I wanted to do.... I said problem with car and not happy. BMW UK technician took out car and said car running within techical specification.... Dealer said tested my car back to back with one off transporter and theirs was worse. Call me old fashioned but that did not make me feel better! Anyway stood by my guns and complained to BMW UK and said wanted a replacement. They are now funding a 09 318d M Sport with 3k miles on clock. I have to put in 2k with refinancing however they are putting in over 4.5k to compensate. If that does not say there is a problem then nothing does. Shame because they screw togther a bloody good car. |

After 2 weeks , the problem is fixed. No juddering and driving is smoother.
briefly : 3 injectors and spark plug changed . they did'nt change all injectors because of the rule.... I am really disappointed, BMW is not generous.... |

Really weird, mine wasn't as good to drive y'day, must have been bad fuel as today it's been a dream again on a full tank - silly engines!

Got a surprise call today from my dealer, there's another software update due for the 320i. Mine's booked in for next Wed. Will see if it makes any difference!! Nice of them to call and let me know, I did ask them but didn't really expect them too! (I'll try and find out the exact software version)

Help Please!!
Hi folks,
I bought a brand new 320i coupe here in Ireland in May '07. In November, I have a red engine management light and was advised by BMW to leave the car where it was...it was collected and injectors were replaced. I have always felt that the engine wasn't quite right but as it was being serviced and maintained according to BMW guidelines I felt that maybe i was just a bit mad. All the issues, the uneven idling, power lag etc have been there all along. Now, however, I have yet again a problem with injectors etc...this engine is a pile of crap - my car is out of warranty since May and I'm afraid I'm going to be hit with a rather huge bill! Does anyone know where I satnd since I have brought this issue to BMW's attention beofre...albeit 18 (ish) months ago and has already been repaired. There seems to be HUGE issues with this car...I know one person who has had their engine replaced and has had ongoing issues since. Needless to say I am VERY disappointed and will NOT be buying BMW again...what a shame! Any ideas on what way to deal with this. Thanks. |

I've just been looking at the forums for the USA and a lot of their petrol models seem to be affected. I'm guessing this may be due to the low RON rating over there. The 320i seems to be VERY sensitive. I wonder if our engine will be used in the new Z4 too - oh dear!!

Well I purchased in May 2007 and this was just before the 3 year warranty came as standard. TRUST ME my warranty is a 2 year only! The story so far is, yesterday I paid EUR 650.00 for a new "Knock Sensor" and believe it or not ALL my problems were still there after this work was done . Today I'm having a Coil replaced but even the service Manager at my dealership thinks this will not end my problems...BMW Ireland have stated that they feel that their 2 year warranty is "Fair"...I don't know about you but paying EUR 55,000 for a car which starts costing major money just after the warranty expires is anything but "Fair". After much trouble and quite a while on the phone BMW have agreed to cover the cost of parts for now bun not any labour which is going to be well in excess of EUR 400.00 ...what to do...what to do...

That's pants, I've owned 4 beemas from new and in UK they all came with a 3 yr warranty, since 2001 when I got my first one. You're correct though, there's no way a car should be costing this much for repairs at 2 yrs old, nor 3, nor 4!! Especially for a problem that's been brought to their attention before.

No software update - they said it wasn't required. Injectors were replaced earlier (about 18 months ago) but they seem to be of the opinion coils are my issue now. The service guy said that a couple of years ago they would have replaced the coils, injectors and plugs but they just do the bare minimum now!

Ok, so I picked up my car on Friday morning from the Dealers after it was in for a software update. Car was updated to the latest software level just released last week. So what's the outcome?
Basically the car feels like it's had a turbo! Seriously, I can't believe the difference. The engine is now 10 times smoother!
