one of my biggest failures as a newbie in the past couple of weeks?
selling CVS stock the day before dividends were paid out
lol
that's how new i am

should have just held onto CVS as it's been gaining steadily while most other stocks are tanking

(if you want a referral link so we can both get a free stock in some company, please message me)
It doesn’t matter if you held the stock until the dividends were actually paid out. The important date is the ex dividend date. If you bought the stock before that date you still should have received the dividend.

Quick profits are for sure available. I'm holding the pot stocks. I bought 1000 shares of ACB at 1.90/share. I'm going to hold for a while. Microsoft is a good one indeed and I just love me some V.

Not the best number for todays standards but if you look at the date and cross reference to price chart... you can see that this was before the mid September run up towards $14/share.

Luckily I dumped the stock before the recent decline and bought ACB... been up and down with them so far but holding out until 4/20/19 at least. I promised myself.

This is true... no overnight millionaires.

Ive been paying attention very closely to the cannabis renaissance that is currently underway. Like it or not. Believe it in or not. Its real and its here to stay.

What an amazing time to be alive!

I think you can almost make money by accident with pot stocks right now. You can also lose a bunch of money if you're not careful.

For the record, I do not consider myself a professional investor or day trader of any sorts. Just sit at a desk all day and always have my portfolio up on the screen and marketwatch on another...

Getting caught up in the hot sector of the day is a stupid, underperforming strategy.

You saw it in bitcoin, people are going to lose their ass on Pot stocks, gold is stupid, shorting is stupid, options are stupid, currency trading Is stupid, and day trading is stupid. By stupid I mean you won’t do well at it over time.

Buy an S&P 500 low cost index fund consistently over time and you’ll do better than 95% of investors, including professionals. Beating the market is next to impossible over a lifetime and you need to invest over a lifetime unless you bet huge and are right.

You won’t listen to me, but this is the best advice you’ll ever get...and it was free.

"THERE IS ALWAYS ANOTHER BUS COMING"
What this means is that if you miss the current bus (whatever sector is hot right now), don't go chasing it. Just watch for the next bus (sector). Sector rotation is very common.

Bought in on a few cannabis companies in 2013 for kicks. Most of them tanked but one went from $0.40 to $9.00 recently. That was a pretty satisfying sell of 200 shares.

My best investments have been long term. Made a few sells in the heat of the moment where I wish I just held on for the ride.

Yeah CVSI.. I purchased it around 2015-2016 for about $80 for 200 shares and just watched it rise and fall a few times. When it closed in on $9 I hit the sell button as quickly as possible. Would have been nice to have a few thousand shares!

My thoughts are target prices literally mean nothing and alcoa is still a terrible business with terrible management.
