I guess that's the thing about BaT - do we ever know if that final bid is actually the price that was paid for the car?

Nope, there is no audited accounting of whether a car sale transaction actually happens or not. BaT gets their 5% ($5k max) from the bidder plus $99 listing fee, and they are done with it.

When I sold my M5 on BaT it was 100% like a private sale after the auction completed. My buyer paid his bid price (thankfully).

Fortunately for everyone I know who has sold on BaT, the transactions post auction happened just like mine did without any issues.

It would be easy enough to follow a given car afterwards via Carfax to see if it transferred hands I suppose although that will take a number of weeks if not longer to show up.

Was it confirmed about these shenanigans and the E30's? Thats what I based my comment on. Like who tf is buying that 535 and not a good M5 for the same money.

Sorry, not sure what you're referring to. I have no knowledge of anything nefarious.

There is a 2010 E60 M5 with 34k miles, original paint, etc, asking $40k on the M5board. It's at least 10 times more fun than a rolly-polly run of the mill E61 not to mention it has 90k miles less.

On the E30 thing there was a E30 M3 sale on Bat for an absurd amount. Then some more listed after that sold for less but cosiderably elevated values in comparison to what they would have sold for a year earlier. There was speculation that the original E30 was a decoy and never really sold for the high dollar but just was meant to set a benchmark for future sales. A rising tide lifts all boats kind of situation. It could have sold for the original astronomical price and just be that the cars gained appeal, covid prices, a spectacular example found the right bidders etc...or it never changed hands.
It was just car scene gossip about market manipulation.

Yes I think M5 V10 values have bottomed out and they are on their way up. That's probably a good deal at 40 if it's a desirable spec. I assume SMG. Anyways, back to the wagons sorry for the off topic tangent.

I recognize the sellers name from other auctions. Seems like he finds cars driven by old people at the country club then details and flips them, not bad if it works for him.

Agreed just cleaning the shit out of the car and putting the service papers in a 3 ring binder goes a long way for the BAT crowd. The dry-ice treatment certainly makes things feel fresh and new.

It's funny cause if you go through the comments, everyone is riding this guys dick for being "the best wagon seller on BAT".

Figured I would put it out there for the e91 community - have a buddy selling a full dakota black interior from a 2012 e91. Seats are manual non sport and have seat heaters for the fronts. Full front and rear with door cards - PM for addition pics/details. I think he is asking $1000 but open to offers - seats are located in SE WI, so local pickup is ideal.

The copy in this ad isn't ideal, and it's not even labeled as a manual, but it is one.

That wagon was recently on evil bay and only had 2 bids up to $12,095. The headliner is sagging, no cargo cover, dings, scratches, peeling paint, idrive looks compromised, etc.

$16.5 doesn't seem like a ton of money considering the current market but the headliner is nearly impossible to find a replacement, cargo covers aren't cheap, possible idrive issues and the mileage is a tad up there.

Not common BarriqueRot over Natural 06 325Xi for 6.9K on long island. It's a manual.

I'd rock it if it was a rwd but I am not an x-drive fan.

I'm pretty sure the previous owner of that car was on here at some point. That poor car is looking rough though. That front seat and that OFHG need some love.

EDIT, just saw that it was a one owner. Maybe not the same car.

According to the ad he lists it as buying it from the original owner, so technically it's a two owner car. So by the posters math all cars are one owner less than actual.
