While I hope Eric as not been too inconvenienced, his response to use the HP Tuners site is hard to understand. The thread for BMWs has been dormant since April of last year, with a total of 9 posts. Not a single response by an HP Tuners representative. There is more information about HP Tuners and the ZF6HP26/28 on forums other than the HP Tuners site. Just stating the facts. Check it out yourselves: http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...-Mercedes-Benz. I don't wish to start off on the wrong foot, just don't know what someone is supposed to do with that.

Will be very greatful and appreciative should we get support. I feel confident the community can make it worth HP Tuner's effort.

I really dig all your work here and it's much appreciated.
If someone gets this going faster shift times, paddle shift reaction, earlier TC lockup etc would be great but one thing no ones been talking about is the ability to hold gears in Manual-mode.

As for now we can for an example shift from 1st gear into 2nd (or any gear up) with paddle och gear leveler but if we don't release it (just keep holding it) it will prevent un-wanted upshifting to 3rd for an example.

This makes professional wheel-spinn or drifting possible just like a pro.. haha

What we want here is a modification to the program that would always prevent automatic up-shifts in manual M-mode. Just like an SMG, or a F-series car with sport-automatic in sport mode.

One other think regarding shift times.
For the E60 LCI we can just change to the SAT-stick with sportbutton and with sportbutton engaged in manual mode we get blazing fast shifts and paddle reaction time is sick... so fast!!

Can we compare the programs from the regular automatic leveler with the programs on the SAT automatic leveler to see whats added. The sport button clearly changes the mapping when engaged but also other stuff as you might know (stiffer steering, throttle response)

This gives me the feeling that the sport button does more things than just chaning TCU-mapping. Can it also use some extra map in the ECU?

I know these things are at bit of since the 335D not uses the Electric park-shift so a complete switch to E60 SAT unit will not work but if we can use the Sport button feature and implement this in our gear leveler maybe there is more hope to get this going?

So it looks like ESS tuning might have something that could work??? I see they can flash custom maps over obdII.

I'm not really educated enough in this department to investigate further. Hopefully some of the more abble boddied could take it to the next step!

Thanks DWR for helping us get the buzz going on the HPtuners front. Hope to see progress!

ESS Tuning is a european tuning company. Unfortunately, the remapping does not apply to US 335d. Interesting, that they sell an OBD tune dongle, just like others - and we are fairly sure they all come from the same source.

It isn't a dongle. It's a gateway you connect to the laptop to load ROMs on to the car! It's unlikely that theres any support for our trans but the do support others.

They have both. Check their website. They do not support our vehicle with the gateway - so, the unlikelihood is 100%. Unless, of course, the website is wrong.

ESS isn't able to tune our transmissions. I contacted them about a year ago regarding this. At first they were interested, but then they got busy on the F series, etc. That being said, I will check in again with them for the heck of it.

Regardless, shouldn't we try flooding that HP tuners forum with posts? Worth a shot?

Is there anyone that could make serious progress on this project if they had an extra TCU to work with?

Oh Heather, you probably already know that BPC is also working on a solution for this when they get some R+D time

They can calculate the potential market. This makes sense for them only if the solution can come quickly. That means we need to make it easy for them. We have attempted to do that. If we do post to the HP Tuner's forum I would suggest it should be pertainent information found in this forum. Anyone know how to do that efficiently?

When you are right, you're right.
I just posted the first 12 pages of this thread over to the HP Tuner's forum.

I'd be interested in one. I was going to try to get a K-Line cable hooked up to my TCU to start reading it. Obviously, that would be much easier with a TCU on the bench. Do you have a spare one?

I have asked for a spare TCU a few pages back. eTuners are looking into BMW TCU remapping - but they still lack a TCU for experiments.

The Motorola Freescale MPC500 family has BDM/JTAG headers. You should be able to get a full dump on the bench.

Whoa.......Sorry, I just meant a bunch of us posting individually over there to show/generate interest. Not sure if they'll even bother to read all of that. But hey, let's see what happens!

Hi Guys,

I should have the opportunity of having in hands the JR gearbox flashing interface, maybe before the end of this month, let me know if I can help with any information you're looking for about that...
