Spring is just around the corner and I'm getting ready for some minor mods. First on the list is a tint. But I don't know what % to go for. I had a tint on my last car that came from Florida. The local sheriff's deputy pulled me over one day and wanted the front taken off. It was such a PITA to get the glue off the glass once it was removed. Also what are the places around to get a quality tint - specially one that will not scratch and from a good brand. I already now Northshore tints that was introduced to me by Chewy. Any other places around, and what is a good price?

What about going for dark rear and lighter front with the tint? I've heard many comments saying it looks ghetto...

Stick with ceramic tints. The Pinnacle F1 I've heard is good, Huper Optik is popular, and Madico is what I have. The problem with Pinnacle was the closest installer was in Toledo when I was looking for mine. Huper Optik has a installer somewhere in Akron/Canton area, but their tint looked a bit bluish-green to me. Madico was more of a neutral color and Marco at Northshore Tint is one of the best installers for it, so I went with that. I have the MAC3000, which is ~30% VLT all around, and the MAC5000 on my windshield (~50% VLT). I haven't had any problems with that, even while driving around gestapo cop territory (e.g. downtown, Beachwood, Cleveland Heights, etc).

I say stick with a single VLT% all the way around. Changing it for the front vs. the back looks kinda crappy, imo.

x2. I also have 30% all around and think it looks great, it's a happy medium. Next time though I think I'll go a bit darker.

I was going to ask the same question regarding tint. I have been reading up on the laws as I am moving from Utah to Ohio in June. Need a front plate now and need to make sure my tint won't get me pulled over. Anything else I should know?

How often do folks get together in the Wright-Pat/Beavercreek area? That's where we are headed. We have a pretty good group here in Utah and wouldn't mind getting to know some folks out there in Ohio before we move that way.

There's a decent amount of guys that live in the Kettering area, they're not signed up on here though. We usually all get together and go for an impromptu cruise from time to time, and they go to a big meet at the K-Mart across from the Greene on Friday nights.

I am going to say that the darker the better. I had some almost limo tint on my audi a bunch of years ago. The state troopers threatened me a couple of times but I dont think they give a damn lol. The only issue with black windows is backing up in the dark haha

I have 20% reflective on my cavalier and have been pulled over around 10 times. Verbal warnings each time. Usually they just pull you over to make sure you arent doing anything you shouldnt be doing. I had the dealer put tint on mine and I am really regretting it... I think its one of the worst "professional" jobs I have ever seen. I might take it up to TAT up in Toledo and get it redone.

What are the alternatives to Ceramic tint? I hear that ceramics have a distinct reflective finish which I personally don't like, and looking for something of a neutral color. I'm also looking at installers for different brands, so far I've heard good things about Northshore tint, but mostly about their Madico Ceramic tints, but not nothing about lower range products. Here are the places I've found through manufacturer's websites.Appreciate any feedback.

Northshore tint (Parma)- Madico products, very good workman ship (how are their non ceramic film?)
Block-a-chip (Westlake) - Uses Llumar , their website shows them working on a lot of exotics
Quality window tint (Columbus) - Llumar Formula one

Marco at Northshore has Wincos tint on one of his car and he hasn't had any problems with it. Even Wincos has different grades, and it looks great too. I have a friend with a red e46 330 and he did his with Wincos as well.

Don't overlook the Bellbrook area. We don't have to pay a city tax here, and it's only 14 miles one way to work! I'm new to the BMW scene here so I can't tell you how often people get together.

Since many of you don't frequent some of the other subforums here, I figured I'd link to some pictures that I took last weekend from the Cleveland Auto Show.

I also moved back to Ohio, although bout 15 years ago, from GA and I had 5% tint all around on my truck. After 3 pull-overs and $300 in tickets, I pulled it off...it just wasn't worth it.

On my 3, I have 35% all around, had it done by Ultra-Cote in Akron. It looks like a crappy shop in a crappy neighborhood, but they do good work and have been recognized for being a good Akron business, nominated and voted on by the public. It is a gray tint and has held up very well for the year and a half I have had it on the car and it has lifetime warranty, even if you are in an accident, they redo it for free. Ihave had 3 vehicles done with them and have been very happy with all three.

Hey, anyone out there in the Great Lakes area (within a decent driving distance to Akron, OH) have an e90 rear bumper cover that you would like to sell? Looking for TiAg, stock or M-Tech, but if it is inexpensive enough, I can get it repainted. Used preferred, just don't want to drop a grand on a new bumper if i don't have to, especially since the damage is so minor to mine (most people would live with it, I can't stand it though). Let me know if you have something available.

Good pics...went to that show once a few years back. I read an article saying Peyton Hillis was there and did a long interview, woulda been cool to see that haha.

Lots of nice cars, I'm really liking that new Durango.
