A friend had a 350 triple but I never had the pleasure of helping him with changing/adjusting the points.

It actually ran pretty well with the points as long as you had a feeler guage and screw driver to remove the timing plate cup if it should slip a bit.

Mine did too years ago when I was taking my nightly walks. Best way to describe it is it felt like I had broken glass in my knee. Starting doing exercises to build up the muscles around the knees; squats, lunges, stair stepping. Soon I added weight. I don't have anymore pain in my knees (maybe a little, sometimes, but mostly it's gone).
