hey guys so I just installed my TBE today. Prior to the install I had catless dp's and a cobb stage 2 tune.

After installing the exhaust and doing a few test pulls, it seems like the power is there but it continues to cut in an out. Almost as if it is getting shorted of fuel when I step on it. Best I can describe it would be a jittery acceleration. However, a couple of times running up hill I really felt the new power but it isn't consistent.

Please any suggestions to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Log it, sounds like throttle closures to me due to overshoot. Try doing an ecu reset through AP as well .

Hi guys,

I tried the Stage1+ Agg. this weekend, because temps around here are much better than in August and of course I was curious.

I loaded the map on Saturday and did some logs. They didn't look to good, a lot of Timing Corrections. So I decided not to push the car in the high gears and give it some time to adapt.

Today on my way to work I did some logs again. They look better but still I'm not happy with the result.

The car feels much much better than on the S1+sport map. Much smoother and a lot more power in high RPM's. But still I have a lot of timing corrections.

Fuel was 98 ROZ, I will try again with Vpower when my tank is empty.
Can someone have another look at the logs. In some I hade corrections after shift mostly when i go from 4th to 5th gear and from 5th to 6th gear. But it seems kind of normal because I saw that also on other logs from users here and other forums.

But It seems quite impossible with my car to get an log without any corrections. I mean 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear seems fine and stable but 4th and especially 5th and 6th gear are horrible. And I live in Germany so high gears with highspeed is the thing I consider most important. Because if the car is not happy while running 140 MPH+ the tune is kind of worthless.

Another question, can I use E85 to stabalize my Timing corrections? I mean just use 15 or 20% Ethanol?
The gas station in near my Apartment offers 98ROZ and E85 so I could get a fill without driving around etc.

Will the DME correct the fuel volume according to the AFR?

Please rename the files from .txt to .csv
The log is in °C and mbar

Ethanol will most certainly clear up timing corrections, assuming the timing corrections are because of a lack of octane. Try throwing in 3 gallons and top off with 98 ron. The DME will correct fuel volume just fine for that small of a mixture, just dont go overboard without getting a protune for the ethanol.

or you can just up the scalar with ATR.

@Fully_Bolted:
Thanks for your reply. ok than I can test this. First only with VPower and then additionally with E85.

So 11 Liter(1 Gallon should be 3,6 Liter) is enough. that would be ~20% Ethanol.

What else could be the reason for the timing correction if its not Octane related?

@enrita:
I have ATR installed on my laptop so I could make an Ethanol map.
But is it really that simple? One parameter (2 times because bank1 and bank2) and thats it?

And how much should I change it? Now its 1?

Will the car afterwards always use more fuel. MPG get worse also while driving normal 98RON?
Or do I have to switch back to the other map when I don't have access to E85.

yes you need to change the scalar bank 1 and 2 for the amount of ethanol you are putting in and then always use the same amount. if you go straight 98 than you need to change map.
there is a pdf with the values , just search for the thread cobb opened about it.

This file: Link??

Ok, I will create a Map and try this when I get access to E85.

Thanks for your help!

edit:
What means FSG in the excel file?
I cannont change the Fuelscalar value exactly to the calculated value. Should I choose the next higher?

Calculated Value: 1.053
in ATR choose 1.050 or 1.060?

Lord,

I don't think this forum utilizes the @. So if you don't reply with quote they will not know, unless of course they login and check.

Either 1.05 or 1.06 will work but I would go with 1.06 just to buy a little more head room. The DME is flexible enough to correct for fueling provided you are close.

I am pretty much finalized on my Pro Tune S1+ E50, may go to E60. The 91 ACN octane isn't performing liked we hoped could either be less than 10% Ethanol or just flat out shitty gas. Either way, its freaking amazing. And I am only S1+, can't imagine how FBO feels.

Just curious does anyone know what else is next on cobbs list of things to do now that the race maps are out? Anyone hear any talk of a NLS feature or anything else?

Is it ok to run stage 2 aggressive + FMIC with high flow catted dps? Or does it require catless dps?

I would suggest starting with the "sport" maps, logging and if everything looks ok give the aggressive maps a shot. Post Logs here if you want some feedback.

elsewhere there is guidance that says BMW are encouraged to check that readiness is not incomplete as a sign that a tune has just been removed. Specifically the aircon diagnostic readiness

Edit: typo
I'm having trouble piecing this together. Can anyone explain in simple terms how to "reset it's diagnostic routine with a/c enabled"? I just can't figure out what that is based on reference posts and link above.

Here is base line and stage 1 v402 aggressive dyno. Completely stock 2009 e90 AT. I was hoping for a delta of more than 30/50.

No logs while on the dyno. I might make a run today to log. These pulls were all done in 4th gear. I pulled onto the dyno did 2 pulls then uninstalled the cobb and did a baseline. The car never came off the dyno.
