Thanks Ed.
I've stopped using my teleconverters lately, finding that the bare lens, even with a mega-crop, is sharper than my images with the 1.4x and 2.0x TCs. I'll be getting my Series II lens next week, so I'll see if micro-adjustment will cure it, but I'm afraid that the QC of the TCs isn't up to the bare lens, by quite a bit. Dave

It depends on the camera for me. I find the 7D2 works best with my naked 500' but the 1d4 seems to be fine with it and the 1.4. I only use my 2x on my 300 2.8, and generally on my 5d3, which is usually my "guest" camera for my freinds to use when I talk them into going out with me to the refuges.
That said, I've been having really great luck with the new 100-400 and 1.4 combo on the 7d2. For the moon, I think naked works best as it is just so far away with so much atmospheric distortion, the less glass between the sensor and it the better. I am looking forward to your review of your new glass |

This past Monday was my 50th, so I took the day off and went up to Point Reyes to enjoy some quiet nature. In addition to the hawk and elk, it was nice to just take in the scenery.

I waited all afternoon for this guy to show up, so of course the only sighting is as I am driving out of the park. Luckily no one was behind me, and I squeezed off a few shots from the car as he flew away from me.
