Yea I was going to say STU requires wheels no bigger than 17x8. So are you going to take all that stuff off? Why not just slap on some real aero and go for GTS2?

May try GTS2, dunno, good idea though, thanks for that. Checked the rules, certainly don't seem to be many.

Learned tonight the cage was finished Friday. Due back at the dealership Monday or Tuesday for paint and then on to the race shop for floorpan fab, reassembly, etc. Didn't think I'd see it again until after race season.

That is very conflicting post. On one hand - happy that the car is getting ready. On the other had, sad that it will not be ready after the season.

Are you going to reprint the whole car, or just some parts?

The cage has to be painted, parts of the roll bar will have to be repainted as well, I'm sure. Nothing else though.

FWIW, the Riot Racing regrind cams were overnighted to Bob at BPC today. If anyone can figure out how to tune for them, he can. I'm picking up the tab for the development, including shop labor, so if they work out, yer welcome.

Should have results in a few weeks. Would be cool if they do something useful but if not then they'll make fine fine lamps for whoever finds them someday in the landfill.

These are intake and exhaust cams for the N52 engine?

Maybe Bob at BPC can measure the lobes before install. Stock and Riot Racing. At max lobe height and 90* to peak height to get base dimension. Net will equal cam lift.

I see you already have a BPC tune, so after install and dyno and tune, any results should just be due to the cams, right?

Should be interesting results. Kudos for footing the bill.

Yes. There's full data on the cams from Riot Racing so no need to measure them again. Have to know the rocker ratios to know the lift and I'm not sure I supplied the right numbers to begin with. We'll see.

I expect to test the cams with MILVs if the tune shows the cams can be made to produce a useful power increase. I'm not holding my breath.

The testing is being done on their 330i test chassis, after removal of the MILVs that are currently installed.

Not on their site. Can't find the info. Who has the full data? Do you have the cam card? Just need the cam lift, stock and Riot's.

It's not public information and I can't provide it per our verbal NDA, sorry.

Are they still grinding them 4* advance?
I didn't know gross cam lift numbers or gross cam measurements were proprietary information.

So if the cams don't perform as promised, does your NDA keep you from sharing your results or negative comments?

Looking forward to the testing.

They aren't grinding any more so far. And I'm not sure what the real lift is and of course it isn't really on the cam card since it depends on rocker ratio and it hasn't been measured. Hardly matters either way, tbh. If they don't work out you can ask Riot Racing for the info.

Yeah, but if they don't work out why would I want to know and ask RR for info? Except for the knowledge of what doesn't work, ha. And if they aren't making any more, it doesn't really matter.

Rocker ratio doesn't matter, with the valvetronic we effectively have variable rocker ratio. We already know maximum valve lift and can figure the maximum rocker ratio. And you can compare actual stock cam lift and reground cam lift and go from there.

We know that the stock max valve lift is 9.7mm and just have to measure the stock cam lift to get the effective maximum rocker ratio and then can measure the reground cam lift and use the effective maximum rocker ratio to calculate the new reground cam maximum valve lift.

Maybe I will measure the stock cam when I go into the garage.
I just love numbers.

My feelings exactly. I don't really care about the details, it either works out or it doesn't. Makes no difference to me.

I measured the stock cam as best as I could with HF digital mic.
Base looks about 30.0mm and peak lobe 35.90mm
For cam lift of 5.9mm.
9.7 l 5.9 = 1.644:1 max rocker ratio.
