Here is something I was playing with using CAD.
The runners and IM plate are angled down 20* so the IC box will be level horizontal like the S55. The TB would bolt on the bottom upside down, pointing upwards. A silicone tube would come out of the SC and then 90* up to TB. Sorry for the large pictures, I just learned how to use imgur and my cell phone for photos. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by CobraMarty; 09-10-2018 at 05:06 PM.. |

Yes, I see that what I wonder is when I take plug out will supplies hose fit directly since it looks like female to female, or did I lose a nipple? Thanks Marty

Of course this would be a water to air IC. Core would be 18"x6"x3.5". If it fits. If it doesn't fit, I could cut it down to 12"wide x4-6"tall x4-6"thick. I really need about a 16" wide IC but that would have to be a custom built piece. I've built intercoolers in the past and used Spearco's at that time. Looking closer there is not much room in the back of the intake manifold. I 'shortened' my CAD (cardboard aided design) in the back and slightly in the front.
Now use a 12"x6"x3.5" core and IC end tanks are built into the design. ![]() Last edited by CobraMarty; 09-11-2018 at 12:37 PM.. |

CobraMarty would the intake be crafted from plastic or metal? Silly question... Curious. With that, I'm sure either way constructing would be a PITA.

Cardboard and plastic are my preferred 'mocking up' or 'mucking up' material.
All aluminum for the working intake. -Use a CNC machined N52/N54/N55 intake spacer. Don't need it drilled for aux injectors or meth or nitrous. -Intercooler cores are aluminum -I can, well my son can weld aluminum. Most will be flat alumn plate probably 3/16" thick cut to shape. The tubes 1 3/4" 1/8" wall round alumn tubing that has one end has been made into oval shape. Lots of weird angle cuts. |

Just wanted you all to know I'm following along even though I won't be adding a supercharger anytime soon to my car. Living vicariously through you all. Hahaha

What does everyone think the cost of a OEM like A2W setup would be for an n52?
My guess is: DIY:3k Depending on how much you can actually do yourself and factoring in that your time is literally worth $$$. BPC: 5k+

LOL @ cardboard aided design. I'll have to use that one day.
Pretty sure you guys are facing different issues because SeattleSquash is in a coupe while Noir is in a sedan. Surprised that ESS didn't know/communicate these differences to their customers. Wait, no I'm not. Glad y'all are figuring out how to get it all worked out, though! Kind of annoying that the R&D is falling on your shoulders, but sometimes that part is fun anyway I suppose. ![]()

Just past my 200 mile break-in, and gave it hell! Feels so good and pulls hard! Felt like a kid again, especially after 5k... really impressed and a screamer at those high rpm up to 7k.
Wife was like why did it take so long to store and back, 80 miles later! no more errands for her obviously! ![]()

manifold plate $100, round to oval tubes-$85, IC core--$150, aluminum 3/16"--$100, labor--$400 Total-- $1200-1500. Now- designing, fitting, testing, re-designing, re-testing, scrapping, starting over, etc--PRICELESS but then again I waste hours on this forum also, ha. $1500 would be the goal price point to try and hit. And then add 'BMW' on it and double the price. |
