2006 E90 325i 116k

I'm always very surprised when people post that they had very little work done after 100k miles. This car has leaked from everywhere, and since I do all the work myself, I find the car a pain in the butt. valve cover leak, oil filter leak, oil pan leak (so many hours to fix that crap), water pump replacement, eyebrow on Windshield dried out a few times and replaced, radio LEDs failed, 4 times windows have gotten problems from plastic inside breaking, airbag and seatbelt tensioner issue, vaccuum leaks from dried out plastic hoses, interior flaking off steering wheel, off doors, off back vents, scalloping rear tires, etc. Not a year goes by without it needing some attention. But,it's paid for, so I will keep fixing until the engine dies, I suppose. But, this will be the last BMW, the E90 really is a failure on many levels. Too many little things detract from the enjoyment. Plus side is, of course, it handles well, it is rattle-free, and is aging well and doesn't look like a 11 year old car from the outside. Not abused at all, not track driven, just too bad, I've had BMW's from many previous years, and they all needed maintenance, but not like this.

2008, 68,000. I baby it, so it still looks and drives like day one. It's been paid off for 5 years now, and it's had its share of maintenance. However, nothing too crazy.

I am seeing quite a few starter failures in this thread. I'm at 210,000 still with original starter. I guess I should go ahead and order one. And for those who are worried about your clutch I'm still on my original.

Just bought a monaco blue 08 328xi wagon with 69k miles on it.

very clean, will get pics. came with a 90 day 3000 mile warranty which i am exercising. had a turn signal out and a very slight miss at idle, the shop is replacing the bulb, doing a software update, new coil packs and plugs, transmission service and repairing a minor leak on top of the engine. should be good as new, possibly picking up today.

07' 328xi. 166k. Coolant pump, starter, valve cover gasket, suspension, brakes. All normal wear and tear items. Body is perfect. Interior is great. Blows sway any American car I have in the garage!

Wow, it seems you really caught an outlier. Most report the e90 being far more reliable/robust than the e36/46 series.

I had long cranks that I couldn't figure out then I replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter assembly and now it's good. Right side tank has pump left tank has the filter and all the hoses best to do them at the same time.

E46 convertible is at 180k and was just totaled, deciding whether to buy back and piece it together again... so many little bits and bobs were cracking or falling apart before the accident...
E90 wagon is just shy of 150k now, very few repairs, about as reliable as my mid 2000's toyota coupe, and *far* more reliable than any of the cars i had before it... nissan and toyota sedans and coupes, nissan pickup, chevy pickup, audi sedans, etc

You can find another e46 anytime you want on the cheap. Unless it was a big emotional attachment, seems like a lot of work and money.

2006 330i with almost 99k. Just had to replace water pump, did tstat too. Leaky pan gasket and vcg. Struggles to start a tiny bit when cold. Starter looks cheap and MUCH fucking easier to get to than in an M50 E36 <--- Those are a goddamn nightmare to do
