Are you doing the ashtray lids? I don't want to do the cf wrap without doing the lids.

So, a buddy in my office has a guy that does powder coating. Thinking about getting my 159's done in a gunmetal. Won't be getting my new wheels until early next year so this may help hold me over for awhile. I do care about others opinions so I would be interested to hear what you guys think about the 159's being powder coated, is it totally gay, or just a little gay?

Just don't do black. I think gunmetal wouldn't be too gay.

yes I did the ashtray lid...its actually the easiest piece to wrap (minus taking it off and putting it on)

Did you remove the silver trim piece on it?

would look cool...but ultimately, the money you will spend on the powder coating...I think you could grab a set of DV's or something you know?

Is there any rubbing when you open or close it? I've heard of people having problems with that.

paul - if its cheap...giddy up!! gunmetal would look real nice imo with the color of your car and your lights being blacklines etc

kyle - not really any rubbing no. I stretched the fabric tight, theres a smidge of friction on the top side, but thats because my dumb ass bent the lid when I was trying to remove itthe first time not knowing how (called seth afterwards)....so needless to say, even with a little dent in the lid (which you cant really see), it opens/closes without issue...damn near perfect

How hard was it to pop off? Saw somewhere that it was just a little glue holding it on now.

it was easy...I took a pair of scissors, and just ground a little of the glue around the spot glues (3 of them), and then took the point of the scissors and pushed each tab out...took the whole of 20 seconds to get it off (if that)

lololol....yeah, ordered that sucker immediately

paul, have a good time man, spread it out over a day or two, all the pieces in one day will drive you mad, and your fingers will be soaked in super 77 glue to the pt that you are washing them every minute not to smudge it on the finishd pieces...I had to scrub my hands after every piece I did (thus the finger pain)
