I was around for 5/5/55, and I remember it because the next day (5/6) was my eighth birthday. The entire crew was treated to a day at the local amusement park even though it was a Friday, which made it even better. We were let go from school at noon for the big shindig.

I had a blue 24" Schwinn bicycle that dad bought used. He had to remove the seat because the bike was too big for me. Next door neighbor kid had a tree fort in the corner tree, complete with drawers that pushed through the walls, putting our stuff outdoors. Ha!
