depends what issue you have but it clears the codes which shut off the engine light but if you have a recurring issue deleting codes aint gonna fix it.

Does your stage 2+ aggressive, and/or race tune, speed up the water pump? I'm wondering what other modifications (like for cooling) you guys made to the basic logic, when this mode is engaged at the track. You know, one with turns.

Also, can you run the race tune with a mix of 100, and 93 (like to create 95 octane), or do you have to have straight 100 octane?

no the pump is not touched as far as i know. OEM logic. is already crappy as it is.
RACE map is for RACE gas only 100 octane plus.

Thanks enrita. It would be nice, if we can get the race map to max out the water pump at the track, ala dinan. Hopefully they are listening, and will do this on their next version of the race map. How much control does their program have over the dme logic? Just wondering, since their flash time is so much quicker than GIAC, or dinan.

oh yeah, and how much peak boost does the race map run?

Flashing is faster after COBB is installed because it is only flashing the tables that are involved in the tuning versu installing the COBB framework (as in the frist time you install COBB)

I've seen 19psi on the Race map in the midrange.

I know it's faster to install/switch maps, but why does the whole thing take only 20mins to install vs, 1hr+ for GIAC and Dinan?

I think it's for the same reason. As in they flash the memory locations they need only vs flashing blindly everything. Of course this is an assumption on my part. Granted a plausible one

correct, probably also to do with technology used, GIAC/DINAN dump the complete ECU first than modify what they need and reflash it while COBB only uses what they need for power.

Dead,

I am 100 miles from home till Thursday. Though I have my car, but my Coil comes in the mail to mi casa on Tuesday. So I am sure Dzenno and I can complete this by Friday.

I went through Bavarian Autosport, got free shipping over a hundred, so I ordered, 2 Sparks (just to have), Coil and Oil Change kit. Beats the dealer by nearly $40 and with free shipping.

So its worth the wait.

Interesting issue. I switched over from a burger tuning product, because it was causing the car to throw, 30FE/3100 with limp mode at the track, with race gas, and temps below 40F. I purchased cobb, and flashed the car (I8A0S) with stage 2+ FMIC aggressive V4.02. After this on WOT, 2nd-4th (approximately 40F), I would throw 30FE/3100 with limp mode. I did some reading, and it turns out I didn't reverse the solenoid bypass, after uninstalling the Buger tuning device. I reversed it, and on WOT 2nd-4th, the vehicle no longer goes into limp mode.

The curious thing is that I noticed, the car still throws 30FE/3100 codes, and it seems to be doing this, every time I Do a WOT run. When I read the ecu with cobb, it keeps on storing this code. However, the good news is that, the car does not go into limp mode anymore when the code is thrown. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind this at all, infact I am very happy with cobb, and V4.02, and I am looking forward to trying out the race map with race gas at the track. It's just that this stubburn version of the factory software, is hell bent on leaving behind some traceability of a tune, even when all the parameters have been reset. It's now throwing 30FE, as a silent code, similar to the way it throws 29DC, with the piggy. Any ideas?

is it throwing a P30FE or just showing H as in history codes...?

Yup, reset your ECU... and double check if you still get the codes. but yeah H is history and not current

Question

Hey guys,

I am new to this so bare with me. I got COBB today and live in CA. Drove around in Stage 1 Aggressive LT with 91 octane and the power is insane and I haven't felt any issues yet. But i drove only about 10-20 miles. Can this damage the car or will it just end up with a lot of misfiring etc.?

What's a good fix? I read a lot about mixing E85 in? Is this simple to do or do you need any other modification for this option?

Otherwise I will just go to the airport (where I have access to) and get 100 LL in a 5 GAL tank and always mix some in with the 91 Shell gas I get.

Sorry if the answer to this is already on here. I have been searching for over 1 hour now but couldn't really get an answer.

Thanks guys!

Hey man,

You need more octane to run the agg map. You were probably getting timing drops all over the place but don't worry nothing happened to your car. With that said, flash stage1 sport for now.

As for E85, the most elegant way of doing this is to mix to achieve say 30% ethanol content and change the fuel scalars in ATR.

but I don;t think that is necessary for Stage1 agg. Mix in E85 to make for 30% ethanol content. Log one or two 3rd gear runs, and post here and we can go from there

Ok thanks for the quick reply. I will first record a 3rd gear run with current setup and then change it to sport even I will lose a lot of HP and torque (I did a 4.8 0-60mph run today at like 87 F and full 91 Octane tank) I didn't feel anything weird yet either. But I will will listen and go to Chevron and mix in some E85. And what do you mean by "change the fuel scalars in ATR"?
- and you said this shouldn't be necessary for Stage 1 agg. right?

Thank you again. I appreciate the help.

I don' think you will lose lots of power with stage1 st because I think the car can run the timing for the map with 91...

Log will show everything

ATR is the user tuning software that COBB provide for free. You can go to their website get it. Fuel scalars basically will set the ethanol content of your fuel mix so your DME can adjust the volume of fuel to inject accordingly.

With that said, the DME has some freedom to compensate, so for stage 1 agg and a low mix if E85 you should be OK.
Mix in some E85 and log You will definitely feel more power with E85 on the same map just because timing won;t be reduced. Do a before and after log

Ok cool! I understood most of that I think . Again I can't read the log that great myself so I will post it up here or PM you.

Thank you very much!
