Kevin-- I'll call the smog shop up tomorrow and see if that changes the results. But even if it doubles it, it'll still be way under the limit. I don't think it is anything to worry about. But I'll ask and even re-test if needed.

RiXst3r-- I'll take some pics of the Xede installed next to the ECU this week. We're going to SEMA this week so I might not be able to take the pics till later in the week.

flush01-- Jury is still out on the what is the max allowable boost. But I'd say that, in most instances, the limit is octane not boost holding capacity of the engine. On pump gas, I wouldn't venture over 11-12psi. The times I did, I didn't pick up any extra power since I had to yank back timing in order to avoid knock. 11-12psi on 91oct seems to be the sweet spot. Maybe would run 12-13psi on 93oct. But that remains to be seen. On race gas, however, the rules change. I'm not too concerned about block integrity. Just as long as we keep avoiding knock, it'll be fine.

sstarch1-- Brakes? The brakes on this car are awesome! Nearly 14" rotors are pretty rare on sub 4000lb cars. Especially ones with good weight distribution (not nose-heavy). The brakes are probably the last thing I'd touch They really didn't leave any weakpoints when designing this car. About the only thing I'd ever want to do is eventually install an LSD. And thats only if you drive like a holligan (like me!).

Cheers

0-100 video in Shiv's car

I finally got the video up on youtube.
Here is the link to the 0-100 test in Shiv's 335i with XEDE and exhaust. 10.5 seconds, approx. But I was being nice to the car on the launch and shifts. With the right launch and shifts it would do 0-100 in under 10, 0-60 in under 4.5, and probably 12.9 @ 112 in the 1/4 mile. That is better than an Audi RS4

for about $20K less. Probably close to what the E90 M3 will do.

At first i was skeptical of the 10second number, just because thats incredibly fast. But i took a stop watch to your video, and even though it is unclear as to when the run starts, b/c the first accurate reading i can get of the speedo was around 20mph, the run cannot possibly be longer then 11 seconds. Wow.

It was between 10-11 seconds, you can tell by looking at how long the video has been running. The run started when the video was at 0:03 and the car hit 100 at 0:13, so you know the 0-100 time is somewhere between 10-11 seconds, probably low 10s with a good launch.

question w/ exhaust

hey shiv,
If i was to wait and get a different exhaust say from dinan or BMP and it has less curves. Do I need in house tuning if it is better than your exhaust? plus i am 93 octane ified in Sw Fl. could you send it to me pre mapped or how would it work? PM me back.

Shiv-

Is this manufacturing/distro partnership going to lower the price, increase quality, or just profit margins with similar price/quality? Also. how long of a delay do you forsee on the 335 exhaust, and if it's lenghty, are you going to offer any exhaust kits manufactured in-house during the interim?

With a hard launch and magazine test-style shifting, it will do 0-100 in under10 seconds. Jake was being very gentle on the car

emos325-- Just as long as the 3rd party exhaust offers similar backpressure levels (which has a lot to do with the muffler design, not necessary pipe bends), the baseline Xede maps will do just fine. The Xede will come, pre-mapped, to you. Just install it and go. I just need to do a few more local installs/tunes to ensure that there is good consistency between cars.

As for group dyno days, just get together 5 cars and a day of dyno rental and I'll be happy to come by. For those wanting to put together something in GA, there is a great shop in Calhoun that we work with (Dyno4mance). I'm sure he would love to have a BMW dyno day. We've been doing Evo and Suby dyno days there for years.

As for AZ, looks like we may already have 3. Just a couple more and we're there

Cheers,
shiv

We'll always offer custom exhausts manufactured in house for those who just have to have something now. It'll be more expensive, of course. I'd suggest waiting until we have something in actual production (give us a couple of months). It'll provide the best combination of quality, sound and cost. Pricing is expected to remain the same. The new manufacturing abilities mostly pertain to rotomolding and casting. We've always had exhaust manufacturing capabilites.
