Californians shocked by electric bills after rate hike: 'Like you're getting punished'
2/06/2004 Some California residents are "stunned" by the high cost of their latest electric and gas bill, after a major utility company raised prices for millions of customers last month. "It’s almost like you’re getting punished," 90-year-old Dorothy Lovell told The San Francisco Chronicle. The Santa Rosa resident's utility bill was $696.64 in January. PG&E is also one of three major utility companies in California whose rates could soon be based on "equity" after Assembly Bill 205 passed last year. The bill allows the California Public Utilities Commission to charge customers fixed rates based on their income. https://www.foxnews.com/media/califo...tting-punished From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs. Well there is state income tax but the question is allowing third party (utilities) to have access to tax payer information I'm sure it strikes you as odd that the type of folks that dream this crap up are not big on facts and details. I suspect this will see a few court challenges as non government means tested fees are a little ticklish even in post constitutional America.

James May already made a nice review, far more unbiased.
And there will be applications where this will work, as James said where H2 is readily available. It won't be for everywhere, just like EVs aren't for every application.

I don't know who Jordan Peterson is. He sounds rational though. I remember in this thread at least I think it is this thread, there were a few climate guys that I posted back and forth with. H20doc was one such gentleman. The discussion centered with H20doc being adamant that scientists completely know how the climate works and have the solution. I asked H20doc, if that is the case then what is the plan, what is the mechanism, and what date in climate history are we reaching back to as being the ideal climate. I also asked does the plan include keeping the climate static going forward from when we've reached the day the climate (before humans have screwed it up) was ideal. I never got an answer. Peterson's diatribe is much the same question; where do we want to get to in climate history, and how are we going to get there? And I still ask, how does the climate repair model and mechanism deal with plate tectonics? Current science can't even predict earthquakes. |

Bridgestone’s Senior Product Manager Brad Robison says the company’s internal testing shows that EVs “go through a set of tires roughly 30-40 percent more quickly than their comparable ICE counterparts.” Other tire manufacturers more or less said the same thing. https://jalopnik.com/heres-how-ev-ti...res-1851217581 |

If I recall, he refused to use make-believe pronouns of a (or multiple) college student(s), and the college fired him or placed him on leave. As I said, that's now tantamount to bigotry.

Now we know why The EV market is losing ground!
‘Mr. Bean’ Star Rowan Atkinson Blamed for Slow EV Sales The actor was name-checked in the British House of Lords on Tuesday during its environment and climate change committee meeting, Sky News reports. Thinktank Green Alliance outlined the main obstacles the government faces in its bid to push petrol and diesel cars to the kerb before 2035, pointing to a newspaper comment piece by the Johnny English star published in June 2023 as damaging to the cause. The pressure group told peers in a letter an opinion piece by Atkinson damaged the cause of EV take-ups. The missive read in part: He suggested solutions like drivers keeping the same car for longer periods of time and increased use of synthetic fuel would negate the need for EVs, saying: “Increasingly, I’m feeling that our honeymoon with electric cars is coming to an end, and that’s no bad thing.” Atkinson further noted greenhouse gas emissions created in the production of an electric car were 70 percent higher than in the manufacturing of a gas car due to the use of lithium ion batteries. “They’re absurdly heavy, huge amounts of energy are required to make them, and they are estimated to last only upwards of 10 years. It seems a perverse choice of hardware with which to lead the automobile’s fight against the climate crisis,” Atkinson wrote. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2...slow-ev-sales/ "Thinktank Green Alliance" May be the oxymoron of the year. |
