Ford pulls the plug on EV strategy as losses pile up
02/07/2024 'Our Gen 2 vehicles won't launch unless we can get to a profit' The reality of electric vehicle prices has finally caught up with the venerable US automaker Ford, which said yesterday that it's rethinking its loss-making EV strategy.… The news came during Ford's Q4 2023 earnings call yesterday, and included revelations that the Detroit-based biz was also reassessing its EV battery strategy, a decision that comes as no surprise in the wake of delays announced last year. Despite an overall increase in revenue of 12 percent and year-end profits of $4.3 billion, Ford's EV division lost almost $4.7 billion, Lawler said. https://www.theregister.com/2024/02/...d_ev_strategy/ |

Inexpensive, carbon-neutral biofuels are finally possible
FEBRUARY 7, 2024 Second-generation operations use non-edible plant biomass as feedstocks. An example of biomass feedstocks includes wood residues from milling operations, sugarcane bagasse, or corn stover, all of which are abundant low-cost byproducts of forestry and agricultural operations. Using poplar in a CELF biorefinery, the researchers demonstrate that sustainable aviation fuel could be made at a break-even price as low as $3.15 per gallon of gasoline equivalent. The current average cost for a gallon of jet fuel in the U.S. is $5.96. https://techxplore.com/news/2024-02-...-biofuels.html If the Green Grifters really gave a dam about the environment they would be all over this development but it really not about the environment is it? |

You can't make this stuff up!
Bozo Admin Classifies Martha’s Vineyard, Elite Locales As ‘Low-Income’ To Push EV Charger Subsidies Numerous elite hangouts and locales — including Montauk and Fishers Island in New York, and parts of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket in Massachusetts — are among the areas that the administration has classified as “low-income” and eligible for receipt of EV charger subsidies, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation analysis of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) interactive eligibility map. “This tax credit provides up to 30% off the cost of the charger to individuals and businesses in low-income communities and non-urban areas, making it more affordable to install EV charging infrastructure and increasing access to EV charging in underserved communities,” https://dailycaller.com/2024/01/31/b...ger-subsidies/ We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office. As for up to a 30% discount of an in-house charger, details of income and benefits would have to be supplied which adds to the s.it show of the idea. |

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Public charge stations in wealthy areas provide criminals a better opportunity for high end car jacking and theft. They also provide criminal recyclers a source for copper wire. They also promote physical fitness when criminals have to run from police. It's all in how you look at things? |

I can envision a Mustang Mach E owner walking down this sidewalk, face buried in his phone looking at his FordPass app to check the SoC of his EV's battery. Trips over the wood platform and breaks his neck...

I recently spoke to Paul Newman and a few months ago, Steve McQueen.
Neither are big fans of EV.

Found out about iPhone Shortcuts recently. Enabled some for my green grifter edition Tesla S Plaid. Had my arms full with bags so I said, "Siri, close my trunk" and it worked. Loving this cobalt mine child killing vehicle.
And this ends my TED talk. How was your day ICE bros? |

Never would have gotten that far with all the dip****s in full size trucks backed into the curb with the bed blocking the sidewalk. Having been disabled before, this makes me pretty mad when I see it. I guess they must not mind me using their trucks for support though.

You beat me to it. I was going to post the exact same video. I think it's good one, though I usually listen to Harry at 1.25X playback speed. Harry makes some great points, as well as mentions the issue of 'battery health' - which he says for any used EV car buyer is unobtainable information. Diesel fuel makes much more sense in the overtaxed EU 'principalities' - and where cold weather battery range anxiety is a practical concern.

Tesla sold just one electric car in South Korea last month as some Korean consumers worry about vehicles made in China
Across all carmakers, the number of new EVs registered in Korea fell 80% in January from December. https://fortune.com/asia/2024/02/07/...battery-fires/ |
