lol, a block from the station, i plug my scanner in my obd slot and reset the computer and stays off for awhile. idk if i put a new cat in i would notice any difference driving?

If you're getting a P042x code then it could also be an O2 sensor that's bad. They're wear and tear items and replacing those would make a difference in driveablility if there is indeed an issue with just the sensor as it feeds info on the a/f ratio back to the ECU. If it's the cat itself, as long as it's not clogged then you wouldn't notice a difference. Thing is, if you have a CEL on all the time, if there really is a problem that would throw a CEL other than your cat, you would not know.

Yeah I check it every so often. I have replaced all 4 o2 sensors and the code came back. I hope it just hollowed out inside or something because it isn't clogged that I know of, because that would effect driveability?

It's all good. They're pretty much all at that age and mileage where things start to break. Well, except for my dad's MBZ which IMO is just a piece of shit motor. But my parents, sister's, and GF's car are all coming up on that 8-10 year, 100-130k mileage, and lots of things need to be refreshed by then.

If the insides are broken it'll cause a really bad rattling sound. If it's clogged it would be really low on power. Might just have turned to dust and blown out the tips already, which is OK to drive, just that you won't pass smog.
