It has velcro on the bottom so it doesn't slide around even without tying it to the hook. I got the smaller one and indeed on the smaller size but good enough for my basketball shoes and a ball and couple other items.
May buy another one since that only took up about 1/4 of the trunk.

I was pleasantly surprised with the performance of the car when left in Economy (run-in) mode. Car currently has 1100kms and booked in for the 2,000km break-in service later this month. All in all, the M2 has exceeded my expectations in handling and relative day to day comfort...most definitely a fanboy in the making!

Yesterday I realized I can hit the temperature setting and the screen goes to the climate control menu. Meaning you dont have to extend all the way to the climate control icon in the middle to bring the menu up. Same thing to go back to the previous menu.

That I can't hit the M Mode button twice to change my gague cluster from normal to sport. I have to hit the M Mode button then reach up to the screen to change the mode.

Biggest surprise to me was how wide the rocker panels are. They stick out and my legs or shoes hit them every time getting out - I’m 6’3” 215lbs. Don’t get me wrong I like the styling, but for this reason I decided to get those PPF’d.

I had the same impression the first time getting into the car. I am 5’-4” and I tell you, the struggle it’s real!!! I am looking for quotes, the first place quoted $250 each but not sure the material to be used (no indications it will be Xpel).

This is obviously a driver error, as clearly not in right gear. But the B58 has so much low down torque, where even in heavier X3, it feels more mighty in the specific scenario.
I recently came from a 2019 M240i RWD 8 speed auto. I test drove a 6 speed manual G87 this past weekend and I experienced such disappointment when I floored it in 2nd gear going about 20, then on the highway hitting it in 4th gear going about 60. I was so used to my 8 speed auto and that gearing; I didn't know I needed to get the revs higher given the gears are taller. Once I figured that out holy crap the car takes off and keeps building. I was 50/50 on if I wanted a G87 with the auto or manual but after driving the stick that's what I want for sure.

Oh for sure. Once you adjust to the gearing and keep RPMs high, it takes off like a rocket. You might annoy everybody on the streets brapping around between 3k-6k, but at least you’ll have a big smile on your face doing it 😂

I got a surprise today that I wasn't expecting... after 700 miles of start and go, I stalled the engine when leaving a stop light... been quite a few years since I had a manual and I wondered if I still had the touch.. I guess not, but as soon as stalled and pushed the clutch in, the starter engaged and restarted the engine w/o me pushing the start button... I all happened quickly and I pulled away w/o the embarrassment of having to sit there and hold up traffic...!
Made this old fellow feel relieved....

I was expecting more display modes on the digital gauges. Not only two.
The HUD display on normal mode only shows the speedo.
No armrest on the backseat.
Talking about armrests, the front armrest when opened makes it very dificult to reach inside. Poor ergonomics on that one.

Oh i forgot another one.
As it is my first BMW, i was sure that the M2 logo on the front seats would stay on all the time the car is turned on.

Yeah, it does not but it certainly looks really nice and special when lighted up.

I thought the default HUD display was pretty empty for the size of it but there are things that just don't show because they aren't in use. For example when you use cruise control information about it shows in the HUD like the icon for it being on, the speed you have set, etc.

As far as the display modes, I have a 23 330i on loan while the break in service is done and I think I actually prefer it's ID8 skin over the M theme we have. The gauge cluster has more options and the infotainment looks better, at least in my opinion.

Trigger Warning, sarcasm ahead.

Did not expect that the enormously increased screen area did not add any practical improvement.

Also didn't expect that I would dislike not having manual AC controls so much.

Did not expect to enjoy ranting about M buttons not being tied to sport instrument screen.

My favorite part is not having the option to have a display with round gages!! But I understand that it would have been a huge cost to write extra 8 lines of code!

I was so excited to explain to my son that after ceramic coating my wheels for 6 hours they look like MAD MAX's V8 Interceptor wheels...

Did not expect to get 4x4 package for free! We're going off roading next weekend!

I kid, I kid, overall I like the car, just a bit frustrated with unnecessary unforced errors.

We can do better. C'mon BMW...

I owned over 10 BMWs and 5 M cars. Still supporting the brand with my wallet. Been on this forum for 18 years. Cheers...

LOL, now we just need to smack a old fashioned belt-supercharger on top of the S58 and those extra tanks in the trunk.

Why, I bet that with those extra tanks, the M2 might be able to go almost 200 miles before a refill!

2 things I’m noticing:

1. Anyone with a manual notice a slight vibration when disengaging the clutch? Almost like an engine vibration? Today was the first time I’ve felt it. Nothing crazy but it almost feels like the metaphorical clutch string is straining almost? I don’t always feel it, only at certain RPM’s. I’ve felt this before but it was never in brand new cars...

2. The gear box is beginner friendly, but reminicent of a car that wants to be driven fast. When low RPM’s, gears sort of clunk in with a “crack crack” (hate that), but when giving her some juice and proper boost build up, she snaps right into gear with a nice “pop” and hits that sweet spot.

Still in break in phase, have not abused the engine nor gone past 5k RPM (yet). I never really slip my clutch besides in first on take off so I don’t over rev my engine. Other than these 2 things I’m pleased.

I've never noticed any vibration. Are you sensing it through the clutch pedal, shifter, or butt dyno?

Clutch pedal engine vibration. Feels like a strain almost in certain rpm’s if that makes sense at all. Might just be the clutch engagement but I’ve never felt it until today when I opened her up a bit more.

To be very very honest... in my garage i have to come from behind to get in the car, so most of times, not to say always, i am never aware of this feature, i never get to se them lighted up. Which is a shame, cause they look very special indeed.

A pleasant surprise is the tenacious grip levels of this car, feels more like an all wheel drive car as opposed to rear drive. My car was delivered with P Zero and not Michelin tyres, from prior experience the grip levels would be greater again if fitted with the OEM Michelins. All in all, the M2 is proving to be an enthusiast dream car for those 6.00am Sunday morning drives.
