29.2 is in direct conflict with this, which specifically states there is NO TURBO LAG.

Is it lag or difference in throttle position sensor, potentially? Reading the earlier posts, it sounds like "heavier foot" is a cure...and I know that some members have posted that the throttle is [overly?] sensitive on the 335i.

I am just piecing together seemingly related info based on user comments re: v29.2 and then reading about some 6AT guys' opinions / suppositions on DS mode. Wonder if this is not more perceived lag than due to [possible] changes in TPS sensitivity.

Please don't flame me - I don't have 29.2, but am wondering if BMW would really alter the power delivery characteristics, or maybe now the input from the right foot needs to be delivered a little differently to achieve the same power delivery as before. I hope to hell not...

Jeff from Eurobahn seems to indicate equivalent power curve characteristics, so the above seems plausible (though not readily understandable) to me.

This has nothing to do with throttle position/sensitivty. I tried to clear that up in the other thread(s), and I believe I did, by stating that if you floor the car, it still lags like a mofo. This negates throttle position changes that people were mistakenly arguing could be corrected with a heavier foot.

Can't press the pedal through the floor to make it any better...

Wow, they really do say "eliminated it"

They need to correct the page and say

"...in fact we eliminated it. *
* (But added it back in to piss people off, with 29.2!) "

Or to give the 335i that "turbo feel" from the bygone days of yore....?!

Sucks that it doesn't seem related to throttle position - they are trying to give me a sw update (assume 29.2) to fix my wastegate issue. Software fix for hardware problem, go figure.

I was just kinda hoping I could get on it harder and make up for the change. Too many v29.2 threads to keep up w/, I guess.

my car goes in for service in a few weeks, hopefully I can steer clear of 29.2 still... I will be hovering over them making sure they stay away from my car with that crap. I don't want the car I have been driving for almost 2 years to suddenly get laggy turbos...

The other side of this is that they obviously changed it for a reason, probably to keep wastegate failures to a minimum...

Does anyone know if v81 cars have this same lag?

I took delivery of my v81 car on 5/20. I could definitely sense some lag, but I really don't have a pre 29.2 feel for the car, so I can't say for sure.

Has anyone just tried making a service appointment and saying "My car has lag now, please fix it." Like someone else said earlier, raising a stink at the dealership level would cause them to get BMWs attention to fix this lag.

ezatnova, would you please post the text of the e-mail you sent? I'll send one too. It might help to have us all singing the same song...

Well, I'll have to do my best to just remember...it's a web-form so no saved email to find.
I was pissed and a bit harsh, but oh well. You may want to smooth yours out a bit

"I'm writing concerning the recent Progman 29.2 flash update that was done to my car at a service visit. After this update, I now have a lot of turbo lag that was not there before, and as your own advertising on this website states, SHOULD NOT EXIST on the 335. Thank you for now making me hate my car. I would suggest you look into a fix soon or else you can likely expect a class action from all of the irritated owners. Here are just a small sample of owners who are angry with what has happened with their cars." Then I linked to this thread.

We shall see if it helps.

Ha, that was a bit harsh. Hopefully they don't browse around the Turbo forum and see how much tuning folks are doing here, and reverse engineer their way around it.

Yeah it was harsh. I made the mistake of writing it right after driving home. I now get like 18 mpg because I constantly mash the throttle to the floor and amuse myself with how long it takes for the car to now sling shot forward. In turn, this angers me more, causing me to do it again. It's an unhealthy little cycle.

Slubu, did I miss your idea or did you not do it?

The poo has officially hit the fan now, with Cane informing us that 29.2 is negating his $2000 Dinan flash. We need to march to BMW headquarters in NJ with burning torches and pitchforks.

No, I just have been slammed at work. I was going to draft a form letter anyone can use by just inputting in their own identifying information, to send off. Attaching a copy of the screenshot I took stating no lag, and then the results of having lag post-progman.

Honestly the best route would be for numerous people to take their car into service and explain to them that this car now has something wrong with it, the lag. Eventually, they will have to call BMW as nothing will resolve it, and the engineers will have to come assess the situation. Then show them a printout, another car that is not 29.2 for a test drive, and demand they fix it.

All emotion aside, isn't the reason you chose to go with the 335 the fact that it can produce turbo like power without lag? This was their entire advertising scheme.

Well.....the letter's really long, and tailored to my ownership experience with my dealer, and I'd rather them not trace it back here to me. Believe me, I totally see your point, but, it's not a quick note that everyone could just tack on to.
Just wanted to respond to not leave you hanging.

Seperate but realted note. I beat on the car tonight again. Seems above 4000 rpm the lag is minimal! lol. That's all we have to do is drive with the friggin thing up there.
