Not true, Maybe not yours. My car is mainly stock beside spacers in the back/tint/grill but people ALWAYS stare at me and say nice car. People that obviously don't know too much about cars...

Thats actually the point of a classic. To be different and stand out of the rest. How would a car be a classic when it stays in the same "bloodlines" of all its predecessors?

The 2002 is a classic. The E92 will be quickly forgotten. Especially since its main competition, the Audi A5/S5 is a better looking car.

Nice car, but not a classic.

While the S5 is a VERY nice looking car, I would disagree that the 4 door A4 looks better than the e92.

One because cars with 4 doors, have 2 too many in the first place.

and two because the new A4 looks like a Camry now with an Audi grill up front.

The previous version of the A4 was nice looking, but I on general principal alone can't like it better than the e92 because of the extra doors.

I've also noticed most of the people in the NO category seem to be e90 owners, kinda interesting.

Lets compare Apples with Apples shall we??

Look at the E90 - look at the ugly rear end of that E90 - and then go look at the new A4 sedan....

Bottom line - E92 is a car - thats all - the E46 is a classic - the E92 just fits into the pack while the E90 falls well behind.

FYI - I'm an E92 owner.

Is that surprising? I'm sure if there was a poll about how the E90 looks all the E92 guys would rip on it....as they are even doing in this poll. People bought the car they liked. Go on a Lexus board and ask them if the e92 is a classic

too early to even think about that....its so common because its the new model...give it a couple of years when they change the body style and then bring this thread up again....I think people will think differently once the new model comes out in 2012...

Lots of mention about e46 being classic. I don't see it?

I actually was reluctant to buy another 3 series as I watched the e36 and e46 go by. Then I saw the e92 at the Toronto Auto Show in 2007 and knew it was time to buy a 3 series again.

I do admit that the e46 m3 distinguished itself better from other 3ers in a way that the e92 m3 doesn't do as well.

I would say no. Interestingly, my cousin said it would, but his thinking was that it was a 300 HP coupe. 300 doesn't sound like a lot today, but in mid 2k6 when Automobile Magazine threw a 335 coupe on the dyno, they were quite excited. Throw in 300 ft. lbs., and the back then 29 epa highway rating, who knows. 2k7 was a good year--stock market was still going to roar for another 9 mos., prices were low relative to today (40,300 was outrageous for a base price, but imagine BMW has stealthily raised the price over 4k by hiding some in the options).

The term classsic rarely is tied to price and options on a vehicle. Also the design is usually thought of before the engine in determining a classic unless it's a low volume specialized engine. Since the N54 is in about everything now (x6,z4,535 etc) the 335 wouldn't be considered for it's engine.

e9x is not a classic nor will it ever be

the motor, the n54, is definitely going to be something and already is quite special

in terms of recent BMW's that will become classics
1. E46 M3
2. Z8
3. E46 M3 CSL
4. E39 5 series and all its variations - the prettiest bmw they ever made in my eyes

My aunt had a E36 M3 Lightweight, she kept it for a long time because my cousins told her it would be a classic. She got it new for a discount, when it was almost 1 1/2 yrs. old--who in their right mind would pay over 38k for a 1995 car? Ha, now people are paying 55k for a 335 with iDrive. And their stocks are worth less today than back in 1995!

I just checked online and only 85 of these cars made it here. Too bad she couldn't keep that car when she got her E46 M3. I never rode in it but my mom did. At my wedding she said she'd like to get the E92 M3, but no way would she even pay what I did for my 335. Too much for a car. Hmm.....someone who's owned 2 M3's thinks the new E92's cost too much. Go figure.

I think the styling of the E92 M3 could be classic. It's one of the few BMWs that I see today where my eye follows for more than 2 seconds.

Cost has nothing to do with being a classic. The e30 M3 was on-sold at a premium over msrp, and it is considered by most as the classic 3 series.

Pretty low standard for classic status don't you think?

Maybe not a classic but an improvement over the previous generation 3 Series which now look outdated. And older doesn't always mean classic. Just older. ;-)

What do you mean by "low standard"? An M3 is an iconic car, and the E92 M3 is beautiful.
