I know dealership Elite does a good job (Otto's does not, can't centre the wheel...too lazy to do so, and I know exactly how to centre a steering wheel), but they are pricey

Bruno's on Merivale is also good they had the latest alignment machine there. When I went it was around $100.

Lightbulb

That Bruno's on Merivale will also cost $130. That shop is the same shop Duss Brothers and Otto's "outsource" their alignment jobs.
All alignment machines in Ottawa are the same, John Beam.
The difference here is that you need that special screw to adjust the camber and the caster on BMW and Mercedes.
================================================== =======
The next agenda item is to buy a J2534 Passthru cable to be able to "update/reprogram" the software on all E90. $3289 (a cable, a proprietary laptop, and batery charger to keep staedy voltage during the reprogramming).

I thinking about buying one to cater to all Mercedes, Audi and BMW owners in Ottawa ($139 per reprogram compares to $279 at dealers).

German cars with their German proprietary BS

So I'm in a bit of a pickle...I need an alignment for sure, my steering wheel is off centre.

It is off centre because I accidently oversteered into a curb at very low speed while in Hamilton...go figure. So I don't know the status of my suspension, it seems fine...no issues turning...just seems like the alignment is off.

Think I should have the dealer check it out? I am under warranty.

Cool

Alignment is never under warranty. Just take it to the prescribed alignment shops above.

Well, Spring is in the air, I can change your winter tires to Summer tires as low as $50 per car.
It will be done right (torqued to 90 lbs, applied antiseize, etc) under 25 minutes right before your eyes.
***Taking appointments now***

I just want to greet everybody. New to this forum and soon to be a proud owner of 2011 335i coupe that I have been waiting since Dec-2010. Anyone for meeting up here in Ottawa this spring?

Congratulation....Is there any mod on the way?
You ought to rally Ottawans for any meet-up.
You decide where and when for the meet up and I shall be there.
In fact, we should do a meet up to determine who will have the dirtiest cars.
The winner/the dirtiest will get a free cup of double double, courtesy of me.

Thank you. I am not sure about any mods at the moment but I am sure I'll find something to settle with. I need to spend some time with the car so I can decide what to 'change'. As for deciding on dirtiest car - I think I will be a very strong competitor. It is good to know that I will not be the only one.

Question

Rally the troops then let the jury decides who has the dirtiest car.

HID Upgrade

Hi everyone,

I was thinking of upgrading my HID lights (recently puchased 2007 328I Sedan). It comes with HID already but I want to make it blue and also I wanted to upgrade the fog lights from the yellow to HID Blue. Does anyone recommend any good part store or tuner shops I can do this upgrade in Ottawa?

I also wanted to change the license plate lighting from the standard one to white similar to the M3.

Thoughts?

Hello guys,
I'm glad there are a few Ottawa people on here. I know of at least one other M3 owner in town from the time I spend on M3Post.

I'm looking forward to any meets after my car arrives from my ED.

As to the dealer comparisons, I had the opposite experience to others here. The guys in the South didn't want to spend any time with me even though I told them exactly which car and how I'd like to order it. So I went to the people in the East and they actually treated my like a customer vs a hobo.

is it just me or are there a ton of 3-series (read: 328xi) in Ottawa?

I see so many around now, almost like Toronto.

Man I feel bad for those who pay big money to buy the 7 series or 5 series, there is no high-status brand value left in BMW now that everyone drives one

Reason enough to buy a Panamera...brand value alone is worth it.

Perhaps they aren't buying for brand exclusivity.

A dealer guy told me the 328xi is the most popular BMW sold in these parts, probably because of xDrive.

The Panamera stands out but I have trouble saying it's a good-looking car.

You should see one in person -- 3D is much better looking than in pictures, where you can't see the hips, gorgeous car...broad and front looks gem...the rear hunch is unique...but with Ferrari going that route, its gonna be common and accepted...the rear also looks better with the spoiler deployed.

But its a Porsche, so who cares...it automatically gets the acceptable card.

Good to meet some fellow Ottawa e90 enthusiasts! So are we going to meet up at some point? For those of us early in the mod timeline, would be great to see what mods others have and get some ideas...

Now you get me hooked on Panamera. I actually test-drove one in Long Island,. Loving it...too bad it doesn't come with a manual tranny.

Alas my Miata is in storage for a major suspension overhaul and not sure how early this summer I'll be driving it regularly.... BUT... my good friend (also an e46 330i owner) has a very well-sorted turbo Miata which I may be able to coax into duty... it is a fantastic far to drive and the pull is near-violent when you actually hook up the rears.

Just drove the 335xi 6MT back for 20 mins

Then had to head back out and took the Panamera...mannnnnnnn it doesn't have 6MT but it is butter smoooth and just pure luxury...you feel like you're in an ergonomically correct and smooth chariot. One word describes the Panamera: smooth...butter smooth.

335 6mt is fun for 20 or 30 mins...Panamera is the car you want to live in for proper commutes...it can be quite fun with DCT once you know how to use Double clutch...you need to shift up before the tach actually hits the desired rev number otherwise you over rev. Shifts are lightning quick in sport mode, giving you butter smooth and quick acceleration. Short gear ratios help too.

Question

Which Panamera did you test-drove? The Turbo or the NA?
Can you justify the smoothness of $180,000 slip out of your bank account?

I think the Panamera looks a lot better in very dark colours, but I'm with excoupe, to me it isn't a good looking car. However I've had friends gush over the looks of the Panamera so obviously the beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
