Has anyone tried this and seen if it works. I would be so happy if this works. I've had this problem for 3 years and have had my brakes sensors, pads, and just about everything changed multiple times only to have the sound come back after about 1-2 months every time.

What's worst is that this is probably the second biggest issue with this car other then the High Fuel Pressure Pump, but unlike that problem BMW just ignores this problem because there is no liability on them just because your car makes a squeaking sound unlike the fuel pump issue.

I can't begin to explain how much money(now that its off warranty) and time I have wasted to bring my car in to change everything and the dealership saying everything should be fine now, only to hear the same noise after about a month. So the end solution has been to just ignore the noise and hope no one else can hear it.

Just brought my car to the dealership this morning for this very squeaking brakes issue, although mine sounds like its coming from the front (its not pads for sure), and its LOUD after a bit of driving when the rotors heat up.

Still under warranty...we will see what they do.

I have the same squeaking problem. The e-brake assembly is a poor design IMO. I've never had this kind of problem in my other nissans. Dealership tried to adjust it, and it still squeaks lol. I think these guys have no idea.

Were you able to solve the issue as well? The OP seems to have solved the problem. Just wanted to see how many others were successful with this remedy. I'm sure more stories of success would have others attempt the same remedy.

HI there, yeah me too, My front pads and rotors were replaced lately and the squaking noise is coming from the front. Specially after they heat up like you mentioned. Let me know the outcome. Thanks

Other threads have "concluded" that the squeaking could also be coming from the brake wear sensors. Is this a different squeaking?

I have squeaking too, and it always happens after you brake and let off the brakes for the first 20-30mph from take off. I'm hopefully going to the dealership next week, since I'm still under CPO warranty and I'll mention both problems to them, hopefully they can fix it (permanently).

Brake Noise

9 time out of 10 its going to be your sensors. Passenger side rear and driver side front. I just replaced my breaks and sound is gone. Now if it comes back in few months going to have shop pop the sensors out and see if that works. Shop manager mentioned that BMW had poor design with the sensors and I believe it.

@OP -- How is the fix holding up since the end of May?

Also, if you were to remove the brake wear sensors, would you get a code or a dashboard warning message?

I have my wear sensor zip tied up in the wheel well, as long as its still hooked up to the cars computer you wont get any warning message.

Did that permanently eliminate the brake squeal for you?

This might be easier for me to try first. It's good to inspect the brake pads the old fashioned way, anyway.

Thanks for the info, by the way.

I was actually just going to post in here regarding the same ongoing issue. My car is at the dealer now. I brought my 335i in 3 times 8 months ago and they replaced the front pads after much hassle. That was when I was under new car warranty. Long story short, the awful squeal is now back. My service guy told me that they won't replace them since there's 8k left on them and I'm out of warranty. He suggested new pads and new sensors. Please help as I don't know if my alternate bodyshop can do this new method.

Thanx so much in advance. I really hate the car because of this

No my squeal still exists even with the brake sensor out. The squeal comes from both rear wheels after all. Had a friend walk next to my car after i removed the sensor and said it was comin from both rears.

BKV122 -- Good to know. Thanks!

Maybe I can get a local shop to do what the OP did, since I'm mechanically DEclined when it comes to stuff like this. :P

Had the exact problem, driving in underground parking lots was the worse. New rotors, new pads, new sensors. It's been 2 months, still fine.

Hey guys just finished doing this with my friend who knows brakes. My brakes squeal on acceleration 1-20mph really bad and after doing this it has really tamed the squeal but it does not completely rid of it as the points will need to be re-lubricated every now and then.

Did you file away the rust?

No rust just scratches where the two were making contact... Only reason I didn't file them at all.

We all have disk brakes. The hand brake is a drum brake that uses the inside of the rotor hat as friction surface.
