So will the dealer give any discount off the MSRP?

I have less than 2 month and 1,300 miles to decide.

I was quoted $3140 for 7year/70,000 Gold Plan for my 2007 328xi coupe. This is the printed MSRP from BMW. So when he calls tomorrow, how much can I tell him to discount this plan for? I would jump on it for $2500-2600. If he says BMW will give a $500 incentive and go $2640 I would probably be happy.

My suggestion is to call a few dealers and get them to compete with each other. If you look at my last post, the dealer knocked off $800 from his initial offer.

Also, the brochure states that you have to purchase the extension before it hits 45K. I was able to purchase the extension at 45.9K. Everything is negotiable!

I at at 45k now but the guy I talked to today said I could purchase up to 50k miles. This is for a 2007 335i

They offered me:
Powertrain plus - $2120
Gold - $3040
These prices include 6% sales tax.

They told me they never sell powertrain warranties because they are no good. If something comes in, they have to tear it down and verify if it is covered. If so, they replace the internal component only. Under the gold, they just replace the part...

I really don't like that dealer. I feel like they really don't know what they cover. I have a read a few things concerning 2007s that makes me think I need the gold but there is a great independent BMW shop nearby. $3000 for 2 years of warranty just seems like a lot but of course if a big ticket items comes along are you really stuck going to the dealer? Are there aftermarket alternatives?

I just want something to cover the big ticket items to 100k.

Hell, there is only one dealer here and they won't come near those prices. Any dealers sell over the phone?

I have not heard anything yet. I hope I hear something... I don't think $3000 for 2 yrs of coverage is worth it.

I heard back from them today. After comparing numbers to model and coverage, the quoted me about $100 less off msrp than what Neutrino got. I wanted a $18xx price but since I have a 335i and want the 6/100k warranty, it is not going to happen.

They quoted $2840 for the gold plan. This is $200 less than my local dealer so that is cool. They also said that rates for turbo models will be increasing... I might have to do it.

I had to drop the hammer on this as I threw a CE light and ended up having 4 injectors and 4 plugs replaced on Wednesday. Kind of freaked out a little. I got my local dealer to match the Austin BMW price so I saved a little.

After contacting several BMW dealerships, I got my lowest warranty quotes from the following:

BMW Tucson (Rudy Ochoa)
BMW of Macon (Omar Saleh)
Russel BMW (Andrew Lippincott)

I ended up getting the Gold 7-years/100,000 miles from Rudy @ BMW Tucson.
Rudy was not only very professional and courteous but very prompt and detailed.
Everything was done over the phone and a few days later I received the warranty info.
from BMW. I highly recommend working with Rudy Ochoa, you won't be disappointed.

Are these prices still good for 2011 models? My new 2011 335i coupe is coming in a week or two, the dealer quoted me $3K for 6yrs/10K extended warranty. I think it's for the Gold plan because my car does not have navigation. Anyway I will print this out and use it to bargain with the dealer. Thanks a lot for the info.

Quick update: Just picked up my 11 335i cpe and purchased the 6 years/100K extended warranty(Gold Plan). The dealer asked $3040 for the extended warranty, I paid $2940.
But the dealer DID NOT charge tax on it (I didn't even bargain on this). I see many people on the forum reported they had to pay tax on the extended warranty charge. I guess that's not required by the dealer.

My car is CPO'd until dec of 2013 or 100k miles. None of these warranties sound like a good deal to me, especially the platinum 7yr/100k at nearly 4 grand.

Now if these warranties were not from the in service date, but from the end of the Originals expiration date they would sound great.

Dinan Car

I have seen this discussed across all sorts of sections on this forum but there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer. I have a 2007 335 sport auto and the warranty is up June 2011. I only have 21k miles thus far but the car does have a Dinan Stage 1.

Should i have it removed before i even go in to ask about the extended warranty and just add a plug n play JB3 so i can remove b4 car goes for service? Or will some SA negotiate?

I have a 2008 328i. No one inspected my car when I purchased the extended warranty. They just read your key to get the info they need.

Yes, you should buy from a dealer that will negotiate the price with you. I was able to get $800 off of the retail price. I also did not pay tax.

You should check out Cobb Tuning for your tune if you something that is easily removable. They sell an Access Port to load tune, change maps, monitor/log your car, and clears error codes. http://accessecu.com/cobbtuningweb/p.../features.html
