Truth be told I don't understand that area enough to imagine things like that, its why I asked so that I could understand it better so I appreciate the information. Out of curiousity though, how does the increased boost pressure cause the vapour when I leave the car to warm up? My vapour occurs regardless of whether I drive it or not so boost pressure wouldn't factor.in yet would it? |

Put it this way, if you drive around off boost, your oil consumption/leakage will be minimal. When on boost, that's when the oil consumption/leakage will increase.

Simple hold you hand or a piece of kitchen towel over it and see what is there, easy if it's wet it's condensation if it's greasy it's oil. but all engine's make condensation, the more plodding round town and not being used out on the open road the more they make.

Right, it has been a few days with the new vortex separator installed...so far, no oil usage. I have been checking the dipstick every morning on the drive so same conditions each time and the level hasn't moved whatsoever. I will be keeping further track of it and I will be inspecting the breather pipe too to see what oil if any is in there. I cleaned it out when I fitted the new vortex.
So far so good..... |

Well it has definitely reduced if not eliminated the oil usage so therefore the oil leak I was experiencing at the bottom of the turbo clean air intake pipe. I'm still keeping an eye on it so fingers crossed.

That great news, so how much oil was you losing before the vortex? Mines on the more extreme side of 1 litre per month (around 1000 miles)
