ET, also known as offset, is how far in, or how far out your wheel will sit.
An ET of Zero (0) will mean the wheel mounts to the hub in exactly the middle of the wheel. Whereas a positive ET (eg +30) sees it sit inside by 30mm.
Going from an ET of 35 to ET30 would see the wheel stick out 5mm more... make sense?

Hmm...I am buying a 325 coupe with style 67 19" rims plus 245/35/19 tyres on ALL wheels, so, just thinking if there is any impact to the car, and want to see if those tyres can be used on a 225 rims that I am going to buy from a forum member here.
In regards to tirerack, I saw thread before saying that different operator at their side will have different shipping quotes....
I am thinking of the continental DW, or the kumho 31 as the PSS is too expensive, I was told the PSS in a set of 4 costs $1800....

heres a question for your 'faq' section maybe-

can i run non rf's on one axle & rf's on the other?

reason i ask, is my front rf's are getting low, so i'm thinking of going non rf's on the front & waiting till my rears rf's have worn down before putting non rf's on the rear.

i'm sure it would be ok, but worth asking i think.

late reply, but probably not needed IMO... don't want to 'overtyre it' which will increase drag.. also those sizes will bulge a fair bit on the 8" and 8.5" widths of the 193s.

Just got an unbelieveable price for some new tyres from my local Bridgestone Select Store near the Marion Shopping Centre.

I have 19" 225m wheels (2010 E92 335i)

I am getting the following
Bridgestone Potenza S001 RFT

2 x 225x35x19 (front)
2 x 255x30x19 (rear)

Fitted and balanced, nitrogen filled, wheel allignment and a $100 fuel card all for less than $1700.
TireRack in the USA don't even have the S001 in these sizes and checked their price for the soon to be discontinued Bridgestone Potenza RE050A which are an inferior tyre to the S001's and their price wasn't much cheaper. When you add in shipping fitting etc etc I am getting them cheaper here.
I think this is a great deal and worth mentioning

Awesome! I recently bought michelin PSS same size as you and I've got under $1500 fitted locally bought the tyres from Australia too.

Hi guys, can someone recommend me a set of 4 tyres? BMW E90 320i 17" wheels. I looked through the TyrePower site and they do not stock any of the recommended Michelin tyres for my car but plenty of other brands. We want something a bit more comfortable as compared to Run Flats. Thanks

Hi everyone,

Have had my car for about 6 months and it's time for the tyres to be changed. They are 18' run flats and I'm looking at changing to 19' kumho ku31 (e90 325i). Looking at going with the fitment in this thread for front and rear and looks like it will cost around $1100. Is this decent? Includes fitting but no alignment.

As a retired consultant metallurgist ( B. Sc. qualified) I would like to make the observation that techically steel does not become "brittle" with age.
Failure of wheel studs is however a common occurrence due to metal fatigue. This is caused by cyclic stresses exceeding the fatigue strength of the metal when stress concentrations such as thread roots are present.
Fatigue failures are avoided by installation at correct torque settings. ie. Avoid loose bolts.
Studs will last the life of the car if correct high tensile quality and sufficiently high installation torque.

Just picked up a 2nd hand e90 m3 a couple of weeks ago and was shopping around for new tyres. Did a price survey for Michelins Pilot Super Sport around Melbourne and this is what I found:

Front 245/35/19
Jaxquickfit $379
BobJane $399
TyrePlus $390

Rear 265/35/19
Jaxquickfit $473
BobJane $500
TyrePlus $475

Heard TyrePower are pretty competitive too but didn't call them up.
Michelins have a $100 cashback now so in total $1600 for a set of 4 at Jaxs.

Just picked up a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports from Illawarra Tyre Power

265 30 R19 = $420
235 35 R19 = $365

Total $1570 Fitted and Balanced

Any updates on recommended tyres, as I think the original thread was from 2012.

I'm looking at replacing my 18inch Potenza 050A RFTs with non-RFT, mainly after:
- less tramlining
- less noise
- less bumpiness

I think the Michelin PSS still rules the roost, but are there cheaper options if I'm not after ultimate dry/wet performance?

Was considering the Eagle Assymetric 2, but apparently they could be noisy.

Anyone used the Kumho Ecsta LE? Or the Nittos?

A mate had Invos on his E39 M5 front axle. He likes them but wouldn't buy them again. From memory they were noisey, but he's pretty anal about road noise.

Worth noting, based on the tyre placard in an 08 e90 335i, keeping things legal (diameter change no greater than 15 mm) and rolling circumference as close as possible I have found that 235/35R19 front and 275/30R19 rear is pretty much perfect.

www.willtheyfit.com is my friend in that regard.

Have ordered the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 for the front wheels.

Could only get them for the front sizes, as GY Australia hasn't brought in the 255/35/18. Hoping they will in the next few months.

Tempe had them for $210 each (225/40/18)

update (sep 2016) - spoke to Goodyear Australia. They still don't have an ETA for the 255/35/18 and say it could be up to Jan 2017.

I've seen UK websites that can sell it and ship it to Aus. Works out at around A$330 per tyre

Continental 5P are also great daily/summer tires for 335i as most would know. Continental 6 just got released which is on par with Michelin PSS but 335i fitment has a 3 month delay in production. Will be ready around end of March 2017 for delivery.. Pm me if anyone needs performance tires at a cheaper rate than anywhere else. Located in Victoria.
