I know this is an old thread. I am interested is someone who can code a new/used E90 cluster. Or help me do it. Trying to help out my bro...his car is 6 speed 335 and he put in a automatic 328 cluster...tamper light is on. I am looking for a used cluster and then hope to code swap back.
A used cluster can't be "coded" per se. It needs to be disassembled, the Eeprom removed and the mileage and VIN erased in a programmer, resoldered, reassembled, and then default coded. This is the only way to get the correct mileage (unless replacement cluster has less miles than car it's going into) and no tamper dot.

Oh wow. OK. thanks. I have been doing A LOT of reading/searching. In my case my brother out in a higher milage cluster. It seems that if that happens all computers take on the higher milage ? Is that true? Is there anyway to find out the actual now and code/program correctly?

I bought a 2nd hand cluster for my 320d. Although it has transpired that it came from and automatic and mine is manual so it’s showing a transmission fault even though it’s not an automatic. When I get this codes with my vin will the cluster know that my car is manual and stop with the warning light? Thanks in advance

should be easy to program it from auto to manual or vice a
versa see the coding board. If you haven't virginized the module
you may have a big problem with the tamper dot .
This is a coding subforum question.
